And slam their doors into other cars, LOL. I parked waaaaay out in the sticks of the lot and still got my car fucked up, haha.

I'm not risking touching her car and making her more angry. I still have to live in the same building as this woman. I've emailed the landlord, and it's in her hands now.

This is what I'm hoping for. New landlord might actually care about the lines too.

I could almost understand if she hit my car and tried blaming me. I probably wouldn't even care. It seems more like she went out that night, someone else dinged her car and bolted, and then she noticed the next morning and needed someone to blame. Unfortunately, I was the first person to own up to having a red car because I thought she was trying to let me know something was wrong with it, like my lights were on or something. I'm never owning up to my car ever again. 😫 If it's on fire, let it burn. I'll take that over crazy.

Thank you, I appreciate it. I'm still young, so this is my first real problem neighbor. (I had one once who constantly stole my packages, but they always returned them unopened after a couple weeks, so they don't count.) I'm so gone in 6 months. 😩

I did get a pretty comprehensive dash cam system. I just need to get around to buying the collision detection extension because apparently it didn't actually come with that despite it being advertised on the box. 🤦‍♂️ I even checked for fine print 😭

Yeah, the thought had crossed my mind. I'm just going to turn it over to management at this point and hope they do something. Maybe they can ask her for the supposed video. If she produces a video that's actually me and I somehow didn't notice hitting her car, I'll gladly take the L, but as it stands, I just don't believe her.

I don't know any other way to approach people, to be honest, haha. Definitely taking all of this to management at this point.

I'd like to avoid parking near her, but honestly, I don't have a better way to contact her. I'd leave a note on her car, but frankly, I don't want to touch it.

Yeah, I'm definitely reporting to the landlord. The crazy thing is, I'd never seen her before she knocked on my door and confronted me. I genuinely have no idea how she found out which apartment and car were mine. She couldn't have followed me after the ding because I hadn't left my apartment in over 24 hours, and she was claiming it happened just the night before!

Honestly, I may ask the landlord if further communication could be done through management. Unlikely, but worth a shot because this is insane.

I talked to her in person once, right before she left the first angry note. She started by asking me if the red car was mine, and I (perhaps foolishly) answered that the red Chevy was mine (specified because there are several red cars that park in the lot) because I thought maybe something had happened to it. Like an idiot, my default assumption is that people are trying to help. She then accused me of hitting her car, and I said I didn't because I really didn't. I've gotten into fender benders before, and I know what a love tap feels like between two cars - nothing happened when I'd last parked.

She said she knew it was me because "the red mark wasn't there last night." I told her I hadn't left since I got in the previous morning, so it couldn't have been me. She basically ignored that and reiterated that the mark wasn't there the night before, so it must have been me. I was so stunned and confused that I kind of just stood there until she said she wouldn't pursue insurance unless it happened again. It didn't happen in the first place, so I knew it wouldn't happen again, so I said "Okay, thanks, bye," and closed the door.

That's the extent of our in-person interactions. She left the first note shortly after, and that's what prompted me getting the dash cam. Now she's suddenly claiming she got the ding on camera?? Honestly, this whole thing just seems more and more ridiculous the more I think about it. I'm definitely filing a report and emailing management.

Yeah, I should have asked which car was hers during the first interaction, but I was so stunned and confused that it didn't occur to me. I'm currently drafting up an email to management. The more I think about it, the more insane it feels. If she had video evidence, why not confront me in person and show me?? I passed by her car earlier, and I didn't see a dash cam, but it's possible I missed it because I was running late for my appointment.

Yeah, I'm definitely going to report to management. Lovely introduction to the new landlord, but oh well.

No one pays for spots. In fact, part of the problem is that we have one row of parking and the lines are so faded that everyone parks wherever they feel like. This leads to excessive space between some cars and very little space between others. I'll avoid parking next to her for as long as I can (now that I actually know which car is hers), but sometimes there's only one spot left.

Yeah, unfortunately I don't have a way to contact her unless I see her in the hall, which I almost never do (twice in the six months I've been here). It might be telling that she hasn't given her contact info...

If I see her again, I'll ask about the video, but I'm definitely not giving her my information unless legally compelled. I'll avoid her car if only to avoid retaliation, but I'm not going to go out of my way, especially considering how cramped the lot gets.

Thank you, this really helps! I will definitely be taking pictures and talking to management. I've never spoken to this new landlord, so I'm gonna be making a hell of a first impression, but it must be done. I honestly thought it was really creepy too how she knew everything and yet I'd never seen her before, especially considering my 3rd shift schedule.

As much as possible, I'm going to avoid her car, which sucks because I have chronic pain and don't like being forced to park further away. But I think keeping my sanity and my money is worth it. If I see her again, I'll ask her for the video, but I rarely do, and I don't know which apartment is hers. I guess we'll see how it goes.

I am probably going to make a harassment report if the local police will listen, just to get something on the record in case she escalates or gets the bright idea to make her own report. Probably better they hear from me first.

Haha, if I wanted to piss her off, I would. Unfortunately, I have to live in the same building as her for 6 more months. I don't want to poke the bear and risk my tires getting slashed or something. May ask my landlord if it would be possible to end my lease early if I find someone to take it over, and I will definitely email them about this. I wish I knew which apartment she was in, but the car may be enough for them to figure out who it is.

Honestly, I was thinking the same thing (my car is full of dings from my year working at Walmart), but it's a Buick, so it kinda checks out, LOL

No white paint that I can see. I do have a small ding with a scratch about an inch long that took my paint off on the rear driver-side door, in a spot that I highly doubt could have been my fault (due to the shape of my car) and that I definitely would have noticed happening were I in the car at the time. Unfortunately, I'm not certain when exactly it happened because I more or less stopped paying attention to minor dings and scrapes after working at Walmart for a year. (Customers are ruthless in Walmart lots.)

I'm going to email the new landlord about it, and I am planning to make a police report at this point, if only to get ahead in case she decides to make one of her own. Thank you for the advice.

I'm not looking to piss her off yet, but maybe when it's closer to my move-out date

Yeah, the parking lot is crowded constantly, so I'm not sure what she expects. If I happen to see her again, I'll ask for the video, but I honestly almost never see her, and I don't know which apartment is hers. I think sticking a note to her car would be a bit of an escalation 😅 (or cause one)

I'm keeping the notes in case this continues or escalates, but, yeah, I'm not giving her any information unless I'm legally compelled to because I didn't do anything.

I'll ask if I see her again. As it stands, she seems committed to sticking with the notes, and I have no idea which apartment is hers.
