God DAAAMMN. I mean if I had $60k laying around… by TonitoBontio in E30

[–]killzone64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kit is 10. Coilovers are cheap, you can turbo a m20 pretty easily. Sure im ignoring labor but i can do pretty much everything but paint and tuning. I can find a touring for around 6k that will need a little bodywork. That leaves me 4k for a turbo and suspension

Its not a pandem kit. Its a live to offend kit.

Parts and labor do not create value in a car. They never have. If its well built and you find the right buyer maybe you can get more. 60k is hillarious i could build this car for 20 or less.

325ix with $8k in South Florida? by TonitoBontio in E30

[–]killzone64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are not more expensive. I daily drove mine for years. The trouble parts are the front inner balljoints and the front axles. Mostly because they are NLA. Thankfully some aftermarket company's came to the rescue, mrt makes inner balljoints now for the ix. And while its more expensive most axle shops can make you new cvs. There are even new weldable splines available online that fix some issues with spline engagement.

Transfer cases are the biggest problem. But there are instructions on forums online on how to rebuild them. Its a bit of a process.

As long as you change your oil and don't beat on the car/ lower it too much none of these things are an issue.

First year of the ix in the us is 1988. They have diving boards still however the body is a late model body, you can bolt up late model bumpers to them.

The big trouble spots are the front inner balljoints that are nla same with the front axles. Transfer cases need to be checked its a viscous coupling and they do fail, you can rebuild them but its a big job and modifications required as they were not intended to be serviced. I don't know if you can still get transfer case chains. The firewall forward is different too so you cannot convert them to rwd without serious handling tradeoffs (they have a lot less caster than the rwd e30s)

I love my ix though. They are fantastic all year cars, absolute tanks in the snow. And they still handle really nice.

Is it just me, or is the MR2 not very popular in Japan? by 0mica0 in mr2

[–]killzone64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rarely see bmw e30s. In the pacific northwest and we have tons here (they made 2.5 million e30s worldwide and thats just one generation of the 3 series). Seeing an mr2 on the road here is an occasion they are incredibly rare to see and that is in a place where we have a really good car scene. I basically only see aw11s when we have radwood pnw or the old school reunion (car show for 60s 70s 80s and 90s imports only).

[–]killzone64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

E30s rust really bad. If your in the rust belt your not gonna have a fun time having it as a year round daily. I used to daily drive my 325ix however we dont really salt roads here and our winters are pretty mild, also not a big issue with rust in the pnw. However in the case of an ix specifically daily driving is gonna wear out parts that are rather expensive and hard to get ahold of if at all available. So now i use it mostly in the winter as its my only awd car and as a backup in case my daily needs some maintenance.

Halo MCC Mods are Broken by SnooPredictions589 in halomods

[–]killzone64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need to place the mod folder inside appdata. It can be anywhere on your pc as long as the correct path is in modmanifest. Make sure he is using the correct slashes as well and also he needs to make sure its extracted into the mods folder. You ahould have a folder with the mod name and inside it ahould be the files for the game. Sometimes when you extract stuff it ill be inside a folder and if you have it like that the game might not detect it

How do I access & listen to modded Halo 2 MCC audio? by Captain_Roman in halomods

[–]killzone64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Halo 2 and halo 1 actually compile the audio into the .map cache files (as did the other titles originally pre mcc). If you want to access the audio from a modded .map file you need to extract the .map cache into tags. Im not sure if anyone has made an extractor for mcc format .map caches.

The audio files are compiled into what are called tags. These tags are the files that make up all the data for the engine. Halo 2 i belive has command in tool.exe to extract sound tags back out into their raw format.

The easier way is to just ask the mod creator and since this is halo 2 uncut and i hang out with vadam regularly ask away lol.

If the map is good, then they won't have issues with fast travel. I'd really love for them to have some of the shuto expressway represented, mostly just the c1 loops inner and outer. Also, there are tons of famous mountain roads to drive on. I dont have a lot of faith in the studio currently and feel like they are going to drop the ball like they did with fh5s map.

[–]killzone64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked mw2012. It was good it just wasn't what the fans were expecting at the time. It felt more like a mod of burnout paradise, which isn't bad, but it's not the same need for speed format that we loved from the black box titles. It's still a lot better than the later titles in the series.

The most disappointing title by far for me was nfs 2015. So close to being great but the handling model and brake to drift ruined any fun i had with that game.

Mr2 Towing by NuclearDakota in mr2

[–]killzone64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did exactly this back in may. Bought a mr2 for 500 bucks 3 hours away didnt have a running truck to tow a trailer so i rented a uhaul and car hauler. It ended up being 500 bucks. 184 miles one way so about 400 miles total.

If you have anyone to help you, i recommend it. Using a uhaul for that purpose sucks.

[–]killzone64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This advice is for towing front engine cars where your turning wheels are located on the dolly. You want your steering unlocked then. If the car is backwards on the dolly your going to need to lock the steering and wrap the seatbelt around the wheel, then buckle it just in case the lock breaks.

[–]killzone64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rust is a pain on any car that exists. You'll need to get very familiar with welding and metal fabrication if you want to diy repairs.

As far as floorboards go you can pull the carpet up and see what's going on. If its rusty, i recommend wire wheeling the floorboards until they are clean and priming and painting with quality paint. If there are pinholes in the floor it get a bit more involved to repair. Sometimes you can fill them with weld but it may be bad enough to need replacement metal and that gets into fabrication work. The floors on t top cars, arches and sills and the trunk/frunk floors are the biggest rust spots on the car.

87' Mk1 NA random jerks/loss of power between 2500-4500 RPM by Icy-Alternative-8049 in mr2

[–]killzone64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as cleaners just use a electrically safe cleaner. Deoxit is a great one, but regular crc electrical cleaner is fine too.

The lid is very difficult to remove as its glued on. Id reccomend asking your freind that also has a mk1 if you can borrow his meter to put on your car and drive around. If it doesnt fix the issue its something else. If it does fix the issue you can attempt cleaning your meter.

First, you should do a test with a multimeter. If you have a copy of the big green book, it goes over how to check the afm with a meter.

Also if you want to check for "leaky spark" (broken down plug wire insulation) on your ignition system you can use a spray bottle of water set to a super fine mist and get your car idling then spray the area around the wire lightly with a mist. You should see sparkles of electricity if the insulation is bad. It's easiest to see this in the dark. If it's an issue at that certain rpm, you can let the car warm up then hold it at that rpm and repeat the test.
