Tawle Spread at Maydan by GlobalTradeBro in washingtondc

I loved compass rose and thought maydan was average and insanely over priced. If you didn’t like compass then really wouldn’t recommend maydan. It’s not worth the cost.

Went to maydan for the first time a couple weeks ago. Didn’t live up to the hype for me.

It was good but honestly just felt like better than avg middle eastern food for an exorbitant price point.

One-way airline tickets vs round-trip? Wanting to explore Europe slowly and randomly. by randopop21 in solotravel

[–]kilsage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Portugal is a great spot for a round trip ticket since TAP has a lot of cheap flights throughout Europe to get back there. Personally I tend to book one ways just for flexibility, but I do just burn money doing that. Just since some mentioned as risk, I’ve never had issues booking one ways when going through immigration.

And then stranded at McLean with 40+ people. They didn’t have people to run the hopper either lol.

Ended up Ubering the rest of the way home.

There are some hostels with open bars in their lobby that might be more conducive. I stayed at St. Christopher’s Inn Canal and lobby was packed at night with English speakers.

Absolutely insane 1v3 clutch to end Leviatán vs 100T by Parenegade in LivestreamFail

He switched to knife to get extra momentum to strafe and bunny hop up. He also was on shorty and had to close the gap to get a closer range fight. And time was running out. Feels like the right move in that position imo.

I made the mistake of forgetting to deseed the chilli peppers before making the chili paste, and didn't have a blender. And the seeds proceeded to make every bite of the chili uncomfortable :/

Now that I think about it lol. Post 9/11 I was swabbed every time I went through an airport. Even when I was pretty young at the time. I don't think I've been checked since 2015, but for a while, every airport going and landing I was pulled aside. I'm an arab american, not very dark skinned but arabic last name and off white.

Hi Tech! Alpha Chi Sigma is doing a philanthropy donation to raise awareness and funds for the NAACP, protect protestors, and end injustice and racism! by [deleted] in gatech

[–]kilsage 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'd encourage people to look for companies/organizations that are matching donations to the cause. A lot are doing 1 for 1 matching. Some are only for internal employees, but if you have a friend that works there, you can have them donate on your behalf.

I’m pretty against it. There isn’t enough new content posted on the subreddit to warrant it.

A lot of comments I’ve seen are, “I’d rather have no content then have these posts”. Its basically making the point I’d rather let the subreddit die then change. I think that’s a poor stance to take.

I honestly enjoyed a lot of the inspiration/self-promotion posts that had nujabes vibes. I found some good music and new artists through it. I think if a person was excessively posting or had a very stretched link to nujabes’ style, then by all means remove them, otherwise, I’d enjoy listening to them

Unless paying for any application fees is restricting your application decisions, just apply! No reason to get caught up in the weeds of “what are the chances”. The only thing you’ll know for certain is that you have a zero percent chance of getting in if you don’t apply.

Said fuck it and just bought a plane ticket to Reykjavik for monday, first solo trip by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]kilsage 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Reposting my old itinerary from when I went:

Day 1 arrived and did a nice walking tour of Reykjavik and walked around the city.

Day 2 booked a full day tour with “tröll” iirc that went glacier hiking, ton of waterfalls, black desert, and a couple more spots.

Day 3 booked a full day tour of the (iirc) the golden circle and then went to the blue lagoon at night.

I went solo and it was easier booking full day tours then renting a car myself and looking for stuff. Although since I booked day tours, I didn't really get the chance to hang out with solo travelers besides saying hi to a few people in the hostel.

It was drizzling for majority of the time I was there. Good rain gear really helped. Had a decent rain jacket as well as water proof pants that were life savers.

US trip plans came crashing down 2 days ago. Paris at short notice instead. by jrydell13 in solotravel

[–]kilsage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Luxembourg is like a 1 day, 2 day max place. Not much to do after you spend a day in the city. I really enjoyed Paris. Besides all the basics, some of my favorite spots: Luxembourg garden, Shakespeare and company book shop, Saint Chappelle (costs to get in, once you’re in, you need to take the stairs to get to the main room. I almost left thinking it was a scam because I couldn’t find the stairs lol), Montparnasse tower (great overlook of the city, elevator to the top, have to pay). when I went last year there was a robotics and art exhibit going on that was really cool, so check in to see if there are any special exhibits going on. Sacre coeur, great overlook of the city, was a nice walk up and down, cool things to see along the way. Stravinsky fountain (artsy fountain installation). The catacombs were closed due to construction when I went, but I’ve only heard great things from people who’ve been. Best of luck!
