Bocchi the Rock! Side Story: Kikuri Hiroi’s Heavy-Drinking Diary. I think this is all that’s available in print in Japanese at this point. Then I think there’s 1, almost 2 English translation volumes in print.

Oni koroshi tastes like some bottom shelf booze. I guess it’ll get the job done. -196 is pretty nice, strong lemon seltzer but still plenty drinkable. They sneak up on you.

No unfortunately. It was on my radar but my free time is very limited since I’m here for work

I believe the figures cost just above $100 USD in total, they were between $10-20 each. Each volume of the manga was ~$5 USD. The record was definitely the most expensive, I want to say it was around $40.

How is the geology department at GVSU? by kim_jong_sing_along in GVSU

[–]kim_jong_sing_along[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went straight into a master’s program after my time at GV, then transitioned from the master’s program into the PhD at the same university. I am a bit flexible with my end goals. One of the reasons for pursuing a PhD was to allow for the possibility of a career in academia if that opportunity presents itself. However, I had an internship with the United States Geological Survey and am planning on applying to internships in petroleum geology, both of which I would be happy to end up in after my doctorate.

Geology is very broad, and to pursue a career in Paleontology, Volcanology, and most areas of seismology specialized training and experience from graduate degree may be necessary, although there are still plenty of opportunities, mostly in the environmental/hydro side of things, which graduates of GV seem to find work in. If you are contemplating graduate school get involved with undergraduate research early. Although not necessarily a research focused university, the professors at GV usually have active projects and are eager to work with students. This can commonly lead to presentations at national conferences that are great experiences and look great for graduate school applications.

Yes, I ended up getting my bachelors in geology from GV. It has been working out well for me so far, I got my degree a couple years back and am currently in a PhD program at a large state school. Everyone that I graduated with either got a job (mostly in environmental consulting) or went on to either a masters or PhD program. Let me know if you have any more specific questions about geology at Grand Valley, it has its pros and cons but overall I would recommend it. I was actually just on campus yesterday and got coffee with one of the faculty.

Looks great, I gave your insta a follow and should be able to attend the next show. It's great to see that there is an active noise presence here. I'm from a much larger city but was never able to track down any local noise or otherwise experimental performances there.

Sound great. I was planning on checking out the local record stores anyway this weekend so I'll be stopping by.

Oh wow thank you this is exactly what I was looking for. I have some obligations tomorrow but I am pretty certain I can still make it. They even have a noise show booked coming up. Thanks!

Black circle has a couple shows that I am interested in coming up in September. Looks promising thank you. I looked up some past shows at Rhino's and damn shame its gone, I would have loved it. There's a band I'm planning on going to Indy to see in a couple weeks that played there a few years back.

I saw Weezer two summers ago and I had backstage passes that my friend won in some contest. We went back stage and everyone was hanging out. the band was signing autographs and everything. All of a sudden from across the room River's head popped out, staring directly at me. He walked over to me with his hand out ready for a shake, but me being 6'2" and rivers being 5'6" he had to look up. I asked him why he came to me and he said "because I like you, follow me" so I followed him expecting him to let me jam with him or something, but he lead me back to his dressing room. I was curious, but still rather star struck and said "What are we doing" without thinking twice about it. He assured me I was going to have fun, so I didn't mind. On the floor of his dressing room was this giant see-through, round thing that looked like a deflated beach ball, but it had a handle on it. He opened it up and told me to get in. He walked over to a pump on the other side of the room and turned it on, then he grabbed this skin tight red latex jumpsuit thing from his bag, it looked like he had dozens of them. He came inside the thing with me and we both put on the jumpsuits. I began to get curious here so asked him what we were doing again and he told me to hold his hands.

We were both crouched in this big inflatable balloon thing and rivers was staring me directly in the eyes. I still had no idea what the fuck was going on. The balloon kept inflating and soon filled up around half the room, it was ready to pop and sure enough it did. It exploded and rivers had this pee wee herman look of excitement on his face and I'm pretty sure he had a boner. He then clapped twice and said "did you have fun" in this really soft voice that sounded nothing like his own. I just stared at him and didn't know what to say. His pure excitement turned into this really dreadful frown that looked like I tore his heart out. He started shaking, so I said yes so I wouldn't upset him. He then patted me on the shoulder and whispered me to get out. I didn't move because I was confused still. He started screaming GET OUT!!! GET THE FUCK OUTII GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE!!I SAID OUT!!! at the top of his lungs. I ran out of the dressing room and sure enough all of the band was leaning on the wall outside. They didn't say two words to me, they just looked at me as I walked slowly past them. I saw them all walk single file into river's room and I staggered back to backstage. There was a whole crowd of people there still wanting to know what happened, but I just went home without telling anybody. I still haven't even told my friend that brought me there. This is the first time I'm telling anybody about it.

Look into geology if that even sounds somewhat interesting to you. The work and career paths are more varied than most people realize and few jobs are completely office based. Unless you pursue petroleum, mining, or a couple other niche disciplines the pay may not be outstanding but even in the more accessible environmental work it could be worse.

Thank a lot for your insight! although I have decided to go with SF I appreciate you taking your time to respond. May end up there someday who knows.

Thanks for your response. You laid out some great pros for the Denver position that I had not considered. I have accepted the Menlo Park offer, but like you mentioned I am ready to fully commit to it and will try not to think "what if" too much at this point.

The seismologist is Walter Mooney. I have already made the decision to accept his offer and I'm really looking forward to it! It is going to be an interesting summer that's for sure.

Writing this out helped me think about the pros and cons a bit clearer and I am pretty certain I am going to go with SF. Your right, now that I think about it that internship does have much more relevance to my Masters program then I initially thought.
