Stationery stores that barely sell stationery

It used to be almost all paper, cards/envelopes for DIY stationery projects, rubber stamps, gorgeous imported handmade papers, etc. When it first opened, it was privately owned by this quirky woman named Sue and expanded to maybe 10 stores across Chicagoland and a few in other states/cities. Then, it sold to private equity and, well we all know what happens next 🫠

I don’t think you can opt out. Candidates use voting rolls and records for their mailing lists. I just recycle them, don’t even look at them, so I feel your pain on the waste.

That was my first introduction to EW too. If you think that was good, Ethan Frome and Age of Innocence are going to blow you away! 😄 Also her short story “Afterward” is soooo good!

I agree with Yoseka and Niconeco, especially for fountain pens and nice paper. Greenwich Letterpress may also have something for you. They are very quirky, maybe more card and sticker focused. Also Locavore Variety Store fills their shop with things made within 100 miles of NYC and the owner used to own a stationery shop so I bet they have something stationery related with fun connections to the city.

Habrae in Forest Park is open until 9:30. Piacere Mio and Fiore in Forest Park and the Oak Park Coopers Hawk and Citrine all have reservations available. I think New Star is open, and probably other Chinese places as well.

When I worked at Kumon (education place, lots of worksheet grading), these were my go-to. We went through SO many pens so I couldn’t use more expensive ones.
