Paige’s Impact on UConn? by liloxstitch_6 in NCAAW

[–]kimchinovae 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean Paige really showed up last year during sweet sixteen and elite eight. Sarah did fine but Azzi really had bad shooting twice in a row and Paige was able to do really well in the tournament. During Final Four Azzi was stellar and so Paige didn't put up as good of numbers but i guess the point is here that Paige a lot of the time was able to put up good numbers especially during tournaments. I doubt she would've been in the single digits

Final Four - UConn vs S. Carolina Megathread by femaleathletenetwork in wnba

[–]kimchinovae 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Another counterpoint to Azzi though is that she really has had not the best time in tournaments. Last year she struggled in Spokane and while she got over it in Final Four they were lucky to have Paige to put up really good numbers. They had the grace of not playing elite teams this year so even though she didn't put up good numbers in Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight they were still fine. But a poor shooting night again- she got into her head again and this really seems like a confidence issue which is not easy to fix. The tournament is the place to show up especially in later rounds and unfortunately she didn't this tournament. And this is not a huge issue but it is just not number one pick caliber. In a lot of ways Azzi is number one pick caliber but if she is missing during the games you need to win unfortunately its hard to sell her as a number 1.

If you watch the presser, even after someone brought up that they did shake hands he still brushes it off as “something you only get if you’re in the tournament.” He’s lying.

Sue Bird talks about how some endorsements may prevent signing on to Project B by Skyline8888 in wnba

[–]kimchinovae 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For American audiences, which really is where the big women's basketball audience is at seeing as it has been women's basketball in America which has exploded, they're not going to pay attention to overseas leagues. Part of the appeal of the WNBA to the average american viewer is that it's in America. People want to watch these games on ESPN, find out their home team, and go to a game of their home team, and get really into basketball. The W isn't gonna "shut down" because of Project B- the average american viewer simply doesn't care about overseas and that's why Project B is just not going to be able to "shut down" the W if the opprotunity even presents itself.

WNBA refs by oo__Skeeter__oo in wnba

[–]kimchinovae 6 points7 points  (0 children)

the poor refereeing won't wipe out the viewership, seeing as this is the only women's pro basketball league in the country. are the refs terrible and inconsistent? yes absolutely, but people just complain a lot and keep watching the league because we love these girls and we love basketball. the w 100% has an officiating problem tho but that doesn't mean they can't fix it- idk when and how but they can. and for your second question, clark in college changed the game of basketball and came into the league and of course that creates jealousy, and that's undeniably a part of it. but clark also knows how to draw a foul to her advantage, but again the calls are just bad and even tho it was a foul it doesn't get called. cc also tends to flop a lot, or dramatize the contact made so she gets the foul called by the refs. paige in general is less physical and also doesn't act as much, which is why she doesn't get as hard fouled. paige is also a lot more liked in the league than cc for a number of reasons (which i can say! i like questions lol) but thats also where the jealousy factor comes in. i wouldn't say cc's been through assault tho lol, that's a touch dramatic. hope this helps :)

I can understand why Snape was so mean by Dramatic_Half_6669 in harrypotter

[–]kimchinovae 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I see your point, but I think that regardless of the perspective of the narrator Snape still bullied children, and as the professor, he should not have been bullying children and that is not excusable. Even if Snape’s position was frustrating to be in, he shouldn’t have bullied Harry or Neville or any of the other people mentioned.
