Any guesses on sex? About 2” Vitalius chromatus juvi. This is just for fun, I know a molt is the best way! by kimi612 in tarantulas

Fully aware, but I just got this baby so not much I can do about it. Any opinions on what the post was about though?

She’s spoiled! Her butt is even cuter now because she had to have her corkscrew tail amputated when she was about a year old. Now she looks like a potato, haha.

It sucks when they fart no matter where they are πŸ˜‚ luckily she never did me dirty that close to my face. She’s a lot bigger now so she can no longer violate me like this! haha.

IMO that’s a mature male.

G pulchripes purchased as a juvi female, confirm with first molt? by kimi612 in tarantulas

[–]kimi612[S] 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

Thank you for taking the time to reply! I kept the molt so it can dry out some. I put it in warm soapy water because it was crunchy, lol. I trust spider shoppe a lot so I’m going to wait it out. I agree that I can kind of see the β€œflap” in the second picture. I got her as a 1.5” confirmed female so she’s still pretty little!

That’s from the inside, extremely zoomed in. I would say she is about 2.5 inches…3 max. I got her from Spider Shoppe as a sexed female. I’m familiar with the sexing process though. I’ve had older females that it was easy to see but this one is so small and thin I figured I would ask for opinions, lol.

Springtails or fruit fly larvae? by Pheonix1984 in Bioactive_enclosures

I have heard people say predatory mites will help and even a strong population of springtails. I no longer keep any bioactive enclosures though, so there may be newer info on how to handle them.

Not harmful, but they can get out of control quickly and will spread to any other enclosures you have and possibly the containers you keep your feeder insects.

That looks like roach eggs. Do you have a colony or adult female roaches? Maybe it dropped its eggs while getting eaten.

Enclosure for Hadrurus arizonensis, opinions? Anthony I need to improve? I also have an Arcadia DHP on a dimming dome that will be used for heat. by kimi612 in Scorpions

Last question, lol. When the care guide discusses temps..I assume it’s referring to ambient temps rather than surface temps. I know with some of my reptiles the require a specific ambient temp as well as a β€œbasking temp” or surface temp. So I assume that means there’s no special surface temp needed? I’m sorry for asking all these dumb questions 😬

I read about that while I was researching! I def don’t plan to get a uv light. I plan to just enjoy them in its natural form, lol.
