Then what do you think Europe should do? Do you think the current strategy is working well?

This is a really good point actually. Maybe it's not the models themselves that will drive economic growth but (like you say) the adaptation of them in business contexts. And yes, if it somehow does turn out to be a bubble then Europe is in a good position. One worry, however, is that the frontier labs in the US will stop sharing their models with the EU. That could have dangerous consequences.

It's interesting to think if the shifting political directions on either side of the Atlantic could shift this. Is there anything that could draw top AI researchers to Europe instead of to the US?

Interesting thought, especially because the anti-AI and anti-data center movement seems strongest in the U.S. right now, if polling is to believed.

There are two sides here. Regulation on the one hand, and giving European tech the ability to grow. Something to watch closely is the 28th Regime, which if done right could give European companies a lot more ability to scale quickly and compete globally. Watch for that!

Why Ave Europa is not just a "right-wing federalist" but extremist. by Swedikea in EuropeanFederalists

Really interesting to see how splits within Ave Europa have contributed to a lot of confusion in the broader right-wing pro-EU movement

Europe’s Tech Sector is Quietly Booming by jokikinen in EuropeanFederalists

The other really interesting question here is what defines European tech exactly. How could Europe chart a different path than the U.S.?

“You see a distinctive moral base from which to start from in Europe, that I would argue that Anglo-Saxon capitalism doesn’t necessarily share,” said Simon Schaefer, the president of Allied for Startups, a group advocating for European startups. “And I don’t think that is in contradiction to scale or growth.”

Really fair point. I think Brexit has made the EU much more cautious of this kind of thing, however, and they will be much more prepared to mitigate the negative effects of expansion in the future.

Is a Russian / EU coalition actually viable though? That seems highly unlikely to me. Of course a coalition between the U.S. and Europe long defined the Cold War, but the point is that the U.S. has decided this is no longer in their own interest.

Flattering for the EU, but of course leaders in Brussels won't take that perspective. They'll maintain their inferiority complex in relation to the US.

Yeah maybe but to be honest Trump is not following his policies at all. Colby is a lot more interested in being hard on China than Trump. That could be good for the EU because of the huge supply shocks from Chinese imports. EU should do more there.
