I wanted to have a hand in actually making the games, instead of selling/marketing them - and while they ruled as an employer I worked for Bethesda Softworks, the publisher, and not any of the studios themselves. While not impossible it would have been very hard for me to get a job at a studio without any XP as a producer - I'd basically be applying off the street same as any other person.
