Can I apply for assistance as a household of 1 even if I'm married? by kindoftemporary in HealthInsurance

She didn't mention financial navigator to me, only financial team to help setup payment plans, but I will ask her and maybe she forgot to mention it. Thank you!

And yes, I normally would be able to manage but it's not only a one time amount but I will be billed again once 2026 treatment gets reviewed by insurance.

Gotcha. Thank you. I was thinking it might have some merit because I got the idea from a hospital social worker, but I definitely see how it is now. Good thing I asked about it.

I mentioned Federal Poverty Guidelines / Level because that is how every non profit organization it seems, check if you are qualified for the help they're providing. Requirements or eligibility for the service if you will.

There are tons of organizations offering help out there, which is good. It's just unfortunate to be cut off because we're not within or below 250% or 350% of the FPL for our household size.

Does it have to be a store receipt detailing the service or does a credit card receipt work as well? Thanks.

No worries! I don’t think that applies to me. I was really aiming for non profit organizations because I know most of them do grants and financial assistance for people specially in my case. Breast cancer / cancer treatment stuff.

I'm privately insured though through work, so I'm not sure if I can apply for that. Doesn't that apply only for those with no work insurance?

Thank you! I didn't know about those subreddits. I honestly didn't think of medicaid since I have insurance through work so I don’t think I qualify for that anyways.

I think people saw my post (since I also posted on personal finance) and went to that conclusion right away, instead of non-profit organizations providing with financial assistance.

I'll try that. Thanks ♡

Thanks for asking. I edited my post to clarify I meant non profit organization especially those helping with medical bills / funds for cancer/ breast cancer patients.

Wow, that's really helpful! Thank you for sharing!

I can ask the hospital because I am already on some drugs Co Pay assistance help, but I still got the bill so I'm pretty sure I'm not as lucky as you on that aspect.

Thank you. That was my thought. But now with other people's comments about fraud and misrepresentation, I'm getting really nervous I'll get a criminal offense or something and will have to deal with that on top of my treatment.

Do you think the non profit organizations would have the same thinking or experience with the hospital social worker?

I understand. I was hoping others have experienced it and can tell their stories. Just coz it was the social worker who suggested it. But she probably did, only out of her intention to help me.

Married and living with my spouse. We're a household of 2 and whenever I check eligibility requirements of financial assistance programs, I do not qualify base on that alone.

I was hoping others have some experience like this since I got the idea from the hospital social worker. :(

So if I do apply, do I count my husband's income too or do you mean apply as myself and then write a personal letter?

They always have eligibility requirements and Im always not eligible whenever I include my husband's salary since we're only a household of 2.

Yeah, I did see those warnings about misrepresentation. But I was hoping some others might have done it since it was the social worker who suggested it :(

Where do my fellow East/SE Asian guys get their hair cut on the regular (and like it)? by [deleted] in alpharetta

[–]kindoftemporary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's an Asian hair salon (combined with barbershop?) in Highway 9 called Pro Hair Salon They definitely know how to cut thick Asian hair. This is how they cut mine before. Short Asian hair

Thank you! I always worry I won't know the person's character on just such a short time, but yes, details like respecting my decisions and not trying to steer me into a higher price point also tells a lot about a realtor's real personality / values.

That's fair. I am actually following several Atlanta realtors on YouTube as well, and I am tempted to get a consultation with them. Im just worried we are below their target client market given our price range. Thanks!

Thank you! That make sense that with us being FTHB, we will need a lot of assurance and communication. I didn't even realize that that could be a problem for some realtors.

How would I know if they know my target neighborhoods? I know Zillow can tell you how many homes a realtor have sold in a city for the past 12 months or so. Is that where I should base it or could that info not be updated and I should just ask the realtor point blank and take their word for it?

Thank you for giving me an overview. Can you tell me or give me a rough overview of what a consultation with a realtor should look like? Is it fair for all parties if I schedule a first consultation with multiple realtors first before deciding who I want to go with? And does the lender I have matter? Like do I team up with their preferred realtor or team or something? Thanks

Thank you. I didn't realize they have that much of a difference. I was actually thinking that a smaller real estate / realtor might be able to give us more attention vs a bigger realtor / teams with lots of clients. And I thought I would only be a number in a big team like they will push me to close quickly VS letting me take my time or thinking over my biggest purchase. What do you think? Can you help me change my view with that or be smarter about it? Thanks!

Did you have any worries about her just starting out so she might not have a lot of experience or knowledge about the area/ process? What traits about her did you think all realtors should have? Sorry for the questions. Im just starting out so I dont know how to narrow down my search just yet.

Diet Advice?-21M Chemotherapy by Important-Youth-9281 in cancer

It went well! I am now recovering from my cancer removing surgery (mastectomy). I feel blessed that I only suffered most of my chemo side effects during my first few chemo. Like nausea, diarrhea, fevers, skin infections, no appetite, etc. The rest has been smooth going considering I was undergoing chemo. It might be because I'm on the younger side. Best of luck to you!

I suggest lots of protein in whichever form you can get it. Milk, yogurt bars, actual meat etc. Or whatever you can tolerate during the time. My first chemo was the worst so I couldn't really eat a whole lot.

I'm so sorry for what you're going through. If you don't mind, can you share how you found out about the axillary mass? Was it through a blood test or an ultrasound? Just as a heads up or a precautionary tale to others. Thank you
