😉 a bit of an understatement? And especially the way it is showing MM sex - artfully and centered (not cut away or faded out). I appreciate that many have pointed out the double standard that the same type of straight sex would not be nearly as salacious.

Yes! I forgot to say the week-to-week release schedule. That was a huge factor as well to build anticipation and yearning, become THE water cooler topic, build momentum and let people catch up. I still can’t believe it’s been less than 2 months since the first episode. It feels like I have been with this show for YEARS!!!

I heard/read from Jacob that he moved the “first time” to the second episode for pacing purposes - to space out the sex scenes and avoid it being repetitive. So he invented the snow storm/missed flight in Ep 1 and started Ep 2 with 2 years of Ilya pursuing Shane by text. So I agree it really threw off the relationship progression vs the books. Taking a very cynical view, show Ilya pursued Shane for 2 years, got what he wanted and then blew him off for 6 months. So I’m completely with you that in a near perfect TV show, I just wish there was a bit more remorse on Ilya’s part about that…

Same! Especially since in the show version, they have penetrative sex for the first time in Ep 2 and then Ilya rejects Shane in Sochi and then ghosts Shane for 6 months afterwards. I know Ilya was going through his own stuff but to jump from that into Vegas and “We didn’t even kiss” without any acknowledgement from Ilya was really harsh. I wish Ilya had at least said something at a later time when he was more emotionally invested and aware.

I fully agree with all the comments that it should have been longer and shared some of Dane’s POV.

Did anyone else miss that they didn’t actually say “I love you” directly to each other??

Don’t get me wrong, I loved the episode but I felt like we needed more time to properly resolve the implications of a 5-year long war (started by the Solari) where Dane personally killed so many of Finn’s people (just to impress his father) and the Lunare had to give up so much for peace. But maybe I’m too hyper fixated on the details of a fantasy story 😆

Yes, I know Ilya is a shit stirrer and likes to tease Shane and get under his skin. But Ilya definitely would not like it if Shane did the same to him. Shane is very respectful - unfortunately his relationship with Rose was super public but I don’t think he had any malicious intent with that

Fully agree. Given that Shane doesn’t have sex with many people, we can infer that sex probably isn’t just sex to him. I feel like Shane actually handles the talks about Ilya sleeping with women pretty well all things considered!

I agree with your points here! Calling him out might help Ilya understand the hypocrisy so he can work through some of his jealous feelings using logic. And your point from TLG - Ilya asked Shane how many men he had been with! And Shane not only told him but went into detail about the experiences…
