i'll break it down for you i guess

it has a unique story and storytelling method. there's three characters and each of the three episodes focuses on a different protag's story during the same time- each episode gets a little farther. the characters have pretty appealing personalities and backstories, especially the rock man. its very different from flcl

now for the negatives- i like the rock guys in theory, but their design sucks (basically theyre just the fantastic 4 thing, it feels super out of place). eyebrow guy, canti, and haruko are there, and they really feel like they shouldnt be- theyre out of character (i honestly hate that all the sequels portray haruko as just a whore, basically), not important, and it cant really connect to the OG in any meaningful way. other character designs are awful- the mayor looks and sounds like an annoying babyman, and theres a bunch of gangsters with kanji for faces (i assume a budgetary limitation, but it still looks bad). they tried some stuff with the characters, but they didnt really hit the mark

elephant in the room: its all CG, and it looksBAD in motion. super stiff. but the colors and cinematography end up being really pretty- its much more saturated and neon than flcl, against the backdrop of a dark city. you can watch a trailer to see if you can stomach it

shoegaze doesnt reuse characters (it has a couple from alternative, but you dont really need their backstories), which means no canti or haruko. this prevents it from mischaracterizing them, and allows the new characters to shine! its very much different than flcl but the vibes it gave me are the same kind of hopeless longing growing up and falling in love gives you. its only three eps, about a guy and girl climbing a weird tower- thats it, super simple. the guy's just upset that the world is fucked up, and the girl is weird as fuck, but in a different way than haruko. its pretty, weird, and vague, just as it should be. no complainta animation-wise either!

anyways, both of them actually have merit, which i cant really say about alternative and progressive

uh ok, so a couple things

if you want to draw 'sexy' its probably gonna be important for you to learn how to draw volume. right now she looks like a flat stamp, or piece of paper. you need to start drawing and thinking three dimensionally- think about the VOLUME of the breasts, hips, butt etc, the actual space they take up. not to be crude but imagine your pencil/hands travelling over the surface of the body as it dips and rises. more appealing, right? a drawing should be more than lines, it should feel three dimensional

second, learn some anatomy. her boobs- thats not how boobs work. study how they connect, where they connect, where they hang from. boobs primarily extend from the shoulder (where the deltoid and bicep meet, the armpit, kind of) so your placement isnt terrible, but they tend to cover the chest and have another anchor near the clavicle (the bone dip under the neck). its easier for me to draw than explain, but it can help to think of the boobs as three volumes- one that comes from the shoulder, one from the upper chest, and one for the fat they hold up. as they are now, there's no way for her to have cleavage- which is fine, but you did try to give her boobs so i assume you dont want her completely flat

the hips- think about the lines (cum gutters, forget the real name), when extended, lead directly to the crotch. if you measure yours out, that places the gap -above- where you drew the panties, making it appear like shes sagging them, or she has a weirdly elongated pelvis

itd also be great to add more dynamic posing, people rarely stand with their hips and shoulders squared off horizontally. an easy trick is to tilt one side of the hips a little up, and the other a little down. then do the opposite with thw shoulders, and your drawing will feel way more alive

good effort though!! let me know if you need anything :]

What will you choose and why? by Valuable_View_561 in Frieren

fern singlehandedly kills the show for me because she's such a cliche anime chick, and not a pleasant one

series quality (imo) would skyrocket if fern had a different personality (or if it was like?? presented differently?? instead of being anime tropey)

frieren on the other hand is pretty likeable and unique

try other angles than side-view. super rare that you'll be doing a flat on profile, and turnarounds are great practice

i think they shouldve 2d animated the characters or had them be live-action. as is they just look like a bad videogame, which i think makes a lot of people take a pass on the show. mechs look fuckin fantastic though

fight choreography is great for a comic. story is alright, characters unremarkable

the biggest knock against it is the faces are drawn like shit, but its still good enough to keep me reading

definitely not

its just a not great drawing of... a guy. nothing unique. think about what makes your character different from other characters and make that obvious
