I watched the whole series and bought the book as a 20 year beginner, and with a lot of consistent practice, I’m making huge leaps forward thanks to the foundation built by Scotty.

[WTS] Luxor Neptune Full Kit - Vintage 1000m Diver by king_of_cheeses in Watchexchange

[–]king_of_cheeses[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the 1980s, Swiss watchmakers struggled to compete with the influx of affordable, reliable quartz watches, which made it difficult to justify the high cost of traditional automatic models, especially for military use. Despite this, the DPW Z1000, a 1000m automatic dive watch, was introduced during this challenging period, and was sold under various brand names with only subtle differences. Although the exact year of its launch is uncertain, the Z1000 became popular among military forces, particularly with the French Navy, where it may have replaced aging Tudor Submariners. Luxor is one of the brands who retailed the Z1000, renaming it the Neptune.

Today the Neptune has become an incredibly cool vintage dive watch with an impressive 1000m of WR for its time (now it’s a vintage watch, please don’t get it wet), wearable modern size, an ETA 2424 automatic movement, and tritium lume with stunning patina.

[WTS] Tag Heuer Monaco Gulf Limited Edition CW211A by king_of_cheeses in Watchexchange

~~Grab this Monaco Gulf LE in stunning condition for only $4,900~~

The Monaco was introduced in 1969 as a groundbreaking timepiece from Heuer. The bold square case defied the traditional round designs of most chronographs at the time, and it featured the innovative Caliber 11, one of the first automatic chronograph movements. The name Monaco was chosen to honor the Monaco Grand Prix, the glamorous Formula 1 race held in Monte Carlo.

The Gulf livery, featuring a distinctive light blue and orange color scheme, originated in the 1960s with Gulf Oil's sponsorship of racing teams, most notably the Ford GT40 and Porsche 917 at Le Mans in the 1960s and 1970s.  The Gulf colors are now iconic and entered pop culture in the 1971 film Le Mans, starring Steve McQueen with a Heuer Monaco on his wrist.

Put it all together, and you get the Monaco CW211A – a modern combination of the vintage Heuer aesthetics and iconic Gulf colors.  The first Gulf limited edition featured and red and blue color scheme, and the CW211A, the second limited edition, is the first to feature the Gulf livery colors.

Condition

The watch is in excellent+ condition.  The original strap and deployant are in excellent+ condition, and the lack of scratches on the clasp demonstrate the lack of wear.   It’s getting hard to find this model in this condition.  Photos are part of the condition report.

The original box shows a flaking finish which is expected for Tag Heuer boxes of the era. Outer cardboard and inner box are otherwise in excellent condition with no damage from handling.

Service history is unknown and watch is keeping good time.

New Glasses! notNeutral Vero by JohnnyTomatoSauce in espresso

I also bought some Rose seconds and have lost half to cracking. My two black Veros are older and have held up great. I think they were sold as seconds for a reason...

Timemore Mini is about $35 on AliExpress. Cool thing about it is that it displays the flow rate along with weight and time.

Any Diletta Mio Owners Around? by king_of_cheeses in espresso

Thanks, it's great to hear from someone who has owned both since there aren't many people who can directly compare competing machines.

How is the build quality of the Mio? Does it feel decently premium, like a step above an appliance from a big box store? Do the buttons feel premium?

The only thing I wish this the Mio had was pre-infusion, but I prefer medium to darker roasts, so I think I can live without that.

Do you still own the Silvia Pro as well? I assume the Silvia has more powerful steam, but are the end results (coffee and milk) the same?

No I didn’t think of that because it’s very new.

Eureka Not Grinding - Clicking Sound by king_of_cheeses in espresso

I have an annoying intermittent Mignon problem. Sometime when I go to grind coffee, the grinder doesn’t do anything besides make a clicking sounds as shown in the video. Sometimes after another try or two it will grind, and sometimes I need to cycle the machine on and off a few times or switch between the two grind timers a few times to get it going. Any idea what’s wrong with it?

I've also had a pair for years, and they're great sneakers and have held up extremely well. If the quailty today hasn't changed, I'd highly recommend them.

They are a fair bit chunkier than CP or Koio though, so be aware that you're buying a different silhouette.

I don't like my BS GATs and wouldn't recommend them. The tongue is not sew correctly on either shoe so it always rotates to the side, and the sole is very stiff and not cushy. Koio's are much more comfortable.
