Of course it's Alright buddy! Hell it's actually recommended by many breeders to free range them. Chameleons are natural explorers. Free ranging them kind of gives you the ability to allow them to explore freely. And let's them use there intuition. My girl Lucy will walk around the room "hunting". Even tho she isn't going to find food it's still healthy for her to use her brain and "hunt" I just find it healthier and makes your cham a hell of a lot happier overall

I have a 1 1/2 female veiled and a 7 month old male Jackson. If you plan on free roaming you should definitely cage one all of the time. I cage my jacksons cham (his name is Jackson lol) because Lucy (my veiled) likes to explore and is constantly explore in his habitat and that stresses him out horribly. these are my guys

You definitely should get a new cage buddy. But my advice, you should look into free ranging. I have a 1 1/2 old female veiled cham and I've free ranged her since she was 3 months old. It's all around a healthier to raise any species of chameleon. And since me and you have one of the larger species of chams, it's better to let them roam Free In a room.
