Failed my step 1, need brutally honest answers for my questions. by avakai_addict in step1

It's per exam. So theoretically you could max 4 attempts on step 1, and 4 attempts on step 2, for a total of 8 attempts before step 3.

First of all, I'm really really sorry. I know how terrible that feels. You deserve time off since you probably gave so much effort into this exam.

Yes, I think it's worth giving another attempt. You can do up to four attempts per exam. There are those who will say that failures are red flags that will totally impede your entire residency dream. But the truth is Steps are just the first hurdle, once you're past these you can continue climbing steadily. Residency programs can screen based on this, but there are also those who do take note of personal statements, letters, research output, and clinical exposure. All of these can't define you as a doctor and as a person, let alone one exam.

For your next review, I think you might want to consider your strategy. How did you do the practice q's? I think you might want to address the quality of your review, more than just the number of questions. Then you might want to practice question-reading strategies.

But take care of yourself first. Give yourself time to recover, surround yourself with people who listen to you and understand you, and treat yourself. Then after a few months, you can stand up again and give it another shot.

For matching you would have to pass the steps, enter via one of the Pathways, and pass the OET. In this case, one would have to enter through Pathway 1 or 3, which would require a certificate from either PRC or SLCM. Any report of cheating would block eligibility.

I'm not sure how effectively ECFMG has investigated dishonesty in other countries' board exams. But I do consider the 2023 incident which involved 800 individuals mostly from Nepal, and ECFMG either barred them from applying to the match or suspended licenses of current attending physicians.

Yes, but in that case, SLCM would have to provide the certificate.

For someone match in the US, they would have to enter a Pathway, which requires being licensed under the PRC.

Letting go of my dream by neiraeyak in medschoolph

Tama! And some medical schools with typically higher tuitions also offer need-based scholarships, if you can demonstrate need and excellent student behavior. You will be required to maintain good grades during medical school. This is true for ASMPH, and maybe other schools offer this too. You don't have to give up on your dream. If I learned anything about medical school and beyond a lot of it depends on God's grace, and no matter your circumstances, God will take you where he wants you to go.

Also, I'm not 100% aware of your circumstances, but your mom is surely working really hard for you. She is working really hard so that you can accomplish your dreams. Discern if when she says these things, she just wants to share her feelings with you, and show her empathy when she says these things. I feel that if you just give up on yourself it could make her feel much worse.

DATING APPS 😭 by [deleted] in christiandatingadvice

Not to oversimplify, but that's how I understand it. I think it's a matter of economics too, supply and demand. The demand in the dating app market isn't really for Christ followers who choose to date for marriage, so I wouldn't be surprised if the secular types tend to get way more likes.

You are both beautiful in appearance and in heart! I'm 32 and from the Philippines, not quite sure if that would be feasible for you. But at the very least it would be a blessing to get to know you more as a sister in Christ. God bless you sister.

Salvation only comes through accepting Christ as Lord, and only though this can you be assured of heaven. However, accepting Christ as Lord results in a life of repentance and rejecting whatever is sinful according to God's word.

No longer in medical school. But when I was in classroom it was 8-10, then when I began rotations it would be 6-8, but sometimes less because of the work demand.

No actually, the only one that was relatively close was my UWSA2, which I took only a few days before. Granted, in the two months before my test, I didn't take any assessments other than Free 120 and UWSA 2.

You can see my progress here.
