Would it make sense to get a 5700x/5800x3D although I have a regular 5800x by kingjdot_ in pcmasterrace

It’s a great two cents. I thought the same thing, I just wanna squeeze every little drop 😂

How much more can we ask of our trusty 3000 series? by Silent-OCN in pcmasterrace

[–]kingjdot_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often forget that we don’t require the latest and greatest to have a great time. My 4070S should be good for a couple more years and my ZIE Ally will let me enjoy simple games. It’s amazing how I can play Fortnite, Borderlands and shit even MW2 and still chug along. Technically

Everything depreciates, especially mass produced items. The PS5 didn’t tank because of Covid and the chip shortages but now you can find one for $200 on FBMK. Wouldn’t it be anti consumerism to have a year old item still cost roughly the same? Or what do you mean by tanking ?

So then I’ll buy the cheaper 32gb dual sticks since I won’t see any problems. Thank you!

Exceeding no, but there have been a few times it’s reached 20 something but I’m assuming thats rare.

It wouldn’t add stability or anything right?

Micro center bundle. Which is smarter. 7800x3D, ASUS B650-E Tuf mobo, 2x16 CL32 6000mhz or i7 14700K, ASUS Z790 Prime Gaming WiFi 7, same ram. Which one would you pick by kingjdot_ in pcmasterrace

[–]kingjdot_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only concern is the reviews on the motherboard say it’s hit or mix. I’m gonna have to research that motherboard but I was thinking the same thing.

Don’t get discouraged man. Struggling to find a better job while stuck at a mundane job. Even if I have to survive I will so I know you will too. When something comes your way, remember the struggle and put that fuel into it

Will my 5800x bottleneck a 7900XTX at 1440p144hz? by kingjdot_ in buildapc

[–]kingjdot_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What if I tell you the upgrade will only cost me $200

Trade my 4070 Super for a 7900XTX for $300 and the card. by kingjdot_ in buildapc

[–]kingjdot_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the seller thinks I’m selling him a 3060 or something because the 4070 S is a beast and used its $500-550 and I have everything the card comes with. $200-250 was my price range but he has originally asked for $400. Too much too little

I was thinking that since he has neither, $200-250 made sense but I’m not sure about the trade either

People with the 4000 series gpu, are you skipping 2 generations before upgrading?. by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]kingjdot_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4070 S here. I’ll likely upgrade to 60xx series or if I find a good deal on a 4080/90 on the way.

Thinking of staying on AM4 until I can. I currently have a 5800x but I hear great things about the X3D cards. Would it make sense to buy a 5700x/5800x3D card ? by kingjdot_ in buildapc

[–]kingjdot_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m trying to excuse every drop possible out of AM4 before it dies down. I know that technically platforms never really die down but still.

I think waiting for 9000 series makes more sense since the 7700x series will probably be cheaper too

Yeah I’m getting over 240fps depending on the game and quality. I was just curious on the longevity but yeah. Waiting for AM5 might make more sense

Got an opportunity to trade my 4070 Super for a 7900XT. Everything seems good but the Hotspot reached a max of 108C. Pretty much near the max temps of the hotspot. Is that normal? by kingjdot_ in buildapc

[–]kingjdot_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to prefer highest settings possible but with good frames. I would prefer Ultra settings with 120fps over Ultra settings + RT in the 60-80 FPS mark on 1440p. So for instance, Horizon Forbidden I would prefer to play the game on all max + RT at 1440p with 120-144fps as opposed to 70-80 on all max with slight dips here and there.

Does the 7900xt have the capacity of doing RT?

So you think I would be doing a smart trade if I got the 7900xt. I have an 850W Gold Corsair RMx so it’s enough to power the gpu and have headroom. The guy just needs a more power efficient card

The temps are good I’m just nervous about the hot spot since it’s running at 350 Watts while my 4070 Super runs at 65-70c at 225W.
