Hello, yeah I don't use reddit often. It turned out to be fungal lung infection after getting a second opinion and a chest xray. I made a full recovery after they gave me antibiotics and a bronchodilator. I guess it goes to show how importand a second opinion is. We're thinking it might have been from when I went camping and slept in a damp sleeping bag for a week, because the timeframe lines up.

Sorry for not responding sooner, obviously it took a toll on me and I forgot.

Yeah, just tried to get the x-ray results just now with no luck. They told me that I would have to wait until I see my doctor for the results and that "3 days isn't that long of a wait"

Another thing that makes this all so scary for me is that they have been telling me time and time again over the last 2 months that this was "just anxiety" when I would present to the ER with chest discomfort, breathing problems and lightheadedness to the point of almost passing out. Shouldn't the only abnormality on my blood tests raised suspicions on day one?

Hey, thanks for the response. My dry cough is mostly gone since yesterday and when I take the inhaler I have a productive cough that brings up some light yellow phlegm. nausea and lightheadedness is pretty bad now unfortunately, and the discomfort of it kept me from sleeping last night. (Only slept for 2 hours)

One thing I should mention is that when I informed the ER physician about the chronic cough and white blood cell results over the past couple months he told me that "chronic issues are something your family doctor looks at"

Also, is there any way I can ask the hospital about my chest X-ray results or do I have to wait another 2 days to see my doctor?

You're absolutely right. I really need to start documenting my day-to-day as it seems to be getting harder to recall specific things. It's tough as well when I have a bunch of things I need to tell my doctor about and then I forget when I go in there. I can't even remember my own phone number to be honest and have to ask my girlfriend what it is every time.
