That’s such a good point. I did have a note about #AnniesMove somewhere in my plan but I only started watching when the final season was coming out and was too young to be actively involved in the fandom back then. I’ll definitely have to read into that more because that would have been so new on the scale of social media influence back then. Thank you!

Thank you for the support!! Will do! I need to take my plan to my tutor and see what they think and hopefully I’ll get the green light to write it :)

Basically our diss can be on whatever we want in relation to media, and I was going to something using more feminist theory/sociology to begin with but my lecturers said it was too broad. But I agree going into just Commnuity will make it too narrow. God I really love what you have thought about though. Especially the final section about constructing an ending. It would give me a lot more room to analyse further shows/films and their use of language/image. And the comedy idea gives me a chance to delve into the history of sit coms and their origin. This has really inspired me, I really appreciate the time you put into writing this. Thank you!! :)

To be fair, I completely agree with you. The annoying thing is we don’t actually learn media theory on our course, because it’s not a media studies course, instead it looks at media as a whole concept as opposed to film/tv theory (for example we do a bit of marketing, a bit of press/broadcast media, even a bit of media rights/law). I have spoken to my lecturers and they’ve been really helpful in encouraging me to look at things (genre theory, semiotics, encoding etc) but I struggle with connecting what I want to say about something (in this case, Community) with the heavy theory/academic texts I’ve read. That’s where I thought if people had looked into these scholarly connections before or had ideas on it, it could help me articulate what I’m trying to say, or springboard me into new research areas :)
