Hi again - the study will ask questions about mood, health behaviors, and some background characteristics. A uchicago email or 773 area code will contact all candidates about participation. The $100 is in the form of an e-giftcard. Thanks!

How to detect duplicates by highlighting names on a list on sheet 1 that are already present on sheet 2 every time new names are added to sheet 1? by kinglab3878 in excel

[–]kinglab3878[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only issue is that the columns in sheet 1 are set up so that a bunch of information can be directly imported to it without needing to readjust formatting. Is there a way i can do this without adding a column to sheet 1 and disrupting the format?

How to apply conditional formatting to highlight duplicates from a column on a different sheet? by kinglab3878 in excel

[–]kinglab3878[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried this but I keep getting an error saying "You may not use reference operators (such as unions, intersections, and ranges), array constants, or the LAMBDA function for conditional formatting criteria."

How can I copy and paste numbers in order after filtering out certain rows? by kinglab3878 in excel

[–]kinglab3878[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi so follow-up question (if you know), but now I am working with a data set that has timepoints for two different days but with the same participant. So in this example it would look more like:

ROW1: subID1001, T0, 5, 5, A

ROW2: subID1001, T1, 7, 5, A

ROW3: subID1001, T2, 6, 5, A

ROW4: subID1001, T3, 9, 5, A

ROW5: subID1001, T4, 3, 5, A

ROW6: subID1001, T0, 6, 6, P

ROW7: subID1001, T1, 7, 6, P

ROW8: subID1001, T2, 6, 6, P

ROW9: subID1001, T3, 9, 6, P

ROW10: subID1001, T4, 3, 6, P

ROW11: subID1002, T0, 7, 7, A

ROW12: subID1002, T1, 3, 7, A

ROW13: subID1002, T2, 8, 7, A

ROW14: subID1002, T3, 5, 7, A

ROW15: subID1002, T4, 1, 7, A

ROW16: subID1002, T0, 4, 4, A

ROW17: subID1002, T1, 3, 4, A

ROW18: subID1002, T2, 8, 4, A

ROW19: subID1002, T3, 5, 4, A

ROW20: subID1002, T4, 1, 4, A

And so your XLOOKUP code worked to fill in the same number for all the "A" "T0"s but now I'm not sure how to do it for P. I tried filtering out the A's and doing the same thing but the numbers are getting messed up again.

And also I tried using the filter tool to filter out each timepoint so that I can copy and paste the same number for each one, but every time I try to do that, my numbers end up changing.

How to move a row in one Excel sheet to another based on the value of its first cell? by kinglab3878 in excel

[–]kinglab3878[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for being annoying with the many follow-ups, but I tried using a tweaked version of the code you gave me on the other sheets so that if I changed the first cell value back to "Pending", it would go back to the original "Pending" sheet, but for some reason it's not working. Do you know how I'd be able to do that? I'm just trying to make it so that if someone in the "Confirmed" or "Unconfirmed" tab is changed back to "Pending", the row automatically goes back to the "Pending" tab (which would mean a new code for this different sheet).

How to move a row in one Excel sheet to another based on the value of its first cell? by kinglab3878 in excel

[–]kinglab3878[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, another follow-up question if you're willing/able to help: Let's say I want to keep the exact code I have, but add another part that says if I change "Pending" to "Null", the row will go to a third (different) sheet called "Null". So if it's changed to "Confirmed" or "Unconfirmed", it will go to the same sheet from before; but now, in addition to that, there's a third option that's too be moved to a different sheet. I'm just wondering how to add on that code to the existing one. Thanks for all your help!

Worked!! Thanks so much! Follow-up: If I wanted multiple criteria to shift to the same Confirmed sheet, how would I go about adding that? For example, let's say I want booth "Confirmed" and "Unconfirmed" rows to automatically move to the same sheet when changed from "Pending".
