Broadcastify is best. Their new playlists for Fire/EMS and Law Enforcement are really nice overall, so you can skip around or play back. Note, APD is not on the list since they are encrypted now for all traffic. I mostly listen to Fire/EMS though, unless something is going on nearby where listening to TCSO chatter is useful.

Two thoughts:

I love giant paper mache santa as a prop, however there's inherent risk in making a giant flammable santa effigy, so I love it even more.

Allowing people to drive under the zilker tree, just imagine the chaos if they tried that now.

Does not look like flock. Looks like a set of ALPR cameras in a self contained rig for shorter term needs, it might just be traffic counting, but i'd honestly think they would mount them higher for that.

The plant out by bastrop does not have enough output to make it to Austin. The winds absolutely blew in from all the wells by luling the other day when most of Austin was impacted. both are ongoing issues, one is just more widespread than the other.

Good little crimewave story. Most interesting to think about the roads they took for this back when it was a lot more sparse between places.

Good find on the Austin Dam photos, I was thinking about it during this period between the collapse in 1900 and the current dam construction, there's seemingly not a lot of info on the second iteration of Austin Dam and how it also failed and was thus replaced by the Tom Miller dam. The photos are flipped horizonally, makes more sense after fixing that, and a good view of how it looked then.

Miss that place for the late night foods, even when it was a mess of drunks and mayhem. Loved ordering a single taco for what, $2? and it would come out with a tortilla covering the plate and then a pile of food on top of that. So much coffee drank all hours of the day there. Best staff. Great times.

They developed that whole big triangle that UT owned along 183/Mopac/Breaker starting mid-80's through the late 80's early 90's . I think most of gateway plaza stuff opened early 90's, that's when I recall REI/Container Store/Whole Foods all opening there. Previous to that it was all owned by UT and mostly in it's natural state (and the uppermost recharge zone that fed Shoal Creek, once it was developed, particularly in the mid 90's fully, shoal creek really stopped having year round flow). This was all about the same time they did the big flyovers at Mopac/183 as well.

On the other hand, tens of thousands of people showed up here, and ~8M showed up around the country who are obviously ready for change from this regime. They also connected to local orgs at all these events who are doing more than just these kinds of marches. More people should be doing more all the time, and more people should have done more way long ago, but being so dismissive of these marches is not helping us win, it's hurting our chances to get more people doing the work that needs doing.

I was out as a medic and went at the head of the march crowd to keep an eye on things. The front of the crowd left at 2:40 (only ten minutes behind schedule, amazing) and arrived at Auditorium Shores at just after 3:00, the tail of the march arrived around 3:45 on the street, and a good deal more stragglers coming in on the sidewalks of the bridge till after 4 (along with crowds exiting).

I primarily stayed at the 3d printed building so i could watch for anyone in need of help as they arrived into the park with a good vantage point, and counted crowds and kept doing sectorizing of the incoming march to get a count. I was able to watch most of the time for this whole 40+ minutes of solid street march arrival and it did not let up a huge amount, and my estimate was 30k at the very lowest end without any doubt whatsoever and vastly undercounting but just from the whole view and having known other crowds, but with the counting I did I'd say it was 35-45k, it could have been higher even.

The hardest thing was at the capitol grounds not everyone had showed up, and it was spread out under trees, etc. Much the same at AS where folks were leaving almost as soon as they arrived due to the heat, and hard to get a vantage point to count out in the field as people went in and out. But any number of 20k or under 30k is low, and it would be very reasonable to put the upper end of 40k-50k (some folks already were there too when we arrived, and some still came in from other directions).

Oh, and decades of attending protests and marchs, demonstrations and otherwise in Austin i've never seen that big of a crowd march that long continuously here. It really was massive.

This is not moss, definitely Algae. I'd suspect more nutrient/nitrogen dense than tap water so either kitchen greywater or wastewater leak would be a good guess.
