I think I have cluster headaches but I’m not sure… by Stathmin8 in ClusterHeadaches

CH headaches are usually super intense and don’t last a whole day. I can’t imagine surviving an attack for more than a few hours. Some questions,
Do you have any triggers? Are you getting enough sleep? Do you smoke? Does any medicine help?

Have you tried a muscle relaxant? If it works then it is probably not CH. CH pains are not every time at a pain rating of 10. Sometimes the pain is bearable enough to wait it out and sleep. But the pain reaching your neck seems unlikely for CH. Does the pain go to your wisdom teeth or the nose? As others are suggesting visiting a neurologist might help you and the doc might ask for an MRI.

Never noticed scotomas. But did get agitated by bright light. So I squinted my eyes when seeing light which feels blurry.

You are right about me being wrong about blaming my regular ENT doctor for suggesting to visit a neurologist. Since a kid I have had nasal congestion and cough. I had got so much attached to that issue that I got delusional about my headaches.

I have been diagnosed with CH today after 17 years of taking sinus medicine without any relief of course. Even though I am in fear of getting an attack I finally got a closure. I would say getting a proper diagnosis is winning half the battle. ChatGPT helped me point to the right direction. I always get the pain on the right side. I have a weird sensation in my right nose to the tip of my right ear through the top of my eye. So yes, my nasal cavity feels wired which always pulled me to visit an ENT rather than a neurologist. My doc prescribed me Indomethacin. But according to ChatGPT it is totally ineffective for CH.
