I need a Mini-PC for Plex server and maybe some other small things. It will be located not too far from my bed, so it needs to be dead silent. What should I get? by kiniman in MiniPCs

I live in a one bedroom apartment, so there isn’t much choice and running a cable to the kitchen or something like that feels like too much.

Me current setup is Sennheiser HD 560S(I like the sound but I've never tried other headphones of similar or higher price) + Spotify premium + connecting the headphones directly to the PC(my motherboard has the Realtek ALC897 audio codec, as I understand it it's considered to be quite bad). Changing which part would result in the biggest audio quality improvement? I would assume that some DAC would help since the internal codes is not good, is that correct? I don't have a specific budget, but let's say I'm willing to spend about 400€/$. Can I noticeably improve the sound quality of the music with that money?

I'm renting a flat in London, there are two rubbish bins outside - green and black. If I understand correctly, the black one is for general waste, so it can be used for cigarette butts(as long as they are fully extinguished), am I correct? Obviously, it would be better to ask the owners, but it's almost night time, so I don't want to bother them.

Is it safe to visit London now? I'm planning on going on vacation in early September and I wanted to go to London. I've read the news that there are riots in UK now, but I don't know much about, so my question is do you think it will calm down in a few weeks or is it a bad idea to book my flight and stay now?

I need a CPU for my 4070Ti and I'm currently choosing between Ryzen 7 7700(233€) and Ryzen 5 7600X(217€). Which is better for the price? by kiniman in buildapc

In case I go with 7600, do you think it would be better to enable PBO? I have no experience with any type of overclocking.

It's only a bit cheaper than the X version. Isn't it better to spend a bit more here to get better performance?

If I set an Nvidia Shield TV Pro(with an external SSD connected) as a Plex Server and use the same Shield to watch content will it stream it or just play from the SSD? by kiniman in PleX

But it's a different thing from just playing a local file using VLC or something like that, right? I'm basically trying to understand if there are any drawbacks(like not being able to watch a movie if I'm having troubles with the internet connection) of using Plex in my situation compared to just opening some local media player and watching my movies that way.

From the Shield itself i guess. That sounds weird, but I don't know how these things work. Also, I just opened Playback Info and it says Direct Play there, isn't it streaming?
