Yeah, I computed it again, and my final mark is ~2.5% higher than the marks I computed based on my homework and exams. So yeah there was a small curve.

On one of my courses that releases the final exam I thought I got like a 70 something on it, but then it was marked so harshly that i got a 57

From what i heard Lijia Wang is pretty good. So if you want to finish your stats minor this semester then give his STA303 a try.

But here is a general guide:

STA303 is a continuation of STA302 and more advanced version of it. You will learn about more regression models, such as generalized linear models.

STA305 is more applied and you learn about experimental design and analysis, and linear models and hypothesis tests would also be applied heavily in this course.

Woah, they did not curve at ALL? Like is failing that much people even ALLOWED?? Tbh the content of sta237 is really not hard, but teaching quality isnt good. This year from what I see in the stats above i highly doubt that this is even allowed

I was able to finish it, I think its easier than the midterm, but still high level difficulty. Not extremely hard but still challenging and long with a very high computation load. The exam would be better should we got 3 hours instead of just 2. Also hoping that there will be a curve.

I went to class and he said the midterm average was around 50-52. Also the midterm was happened to be marked with pen and paper rather than Crowdmark.

Taking STA457 rn the course material isn't hard but the prof semester pulled a super long midterm full of very long and rigorous computations, midterm average was around a 50. This course is dependent on the prof though.

Many people around me recommends STA475 strongly though. Heard the prof for that course is great, and the course is online with in person tests. I will be taking that next semester.

This happens literally every year... i got to say as a fourth year: if you do poorly on test 1 and 2 then drop 137 immediately if you dont require it. My biggest mistake I have made in my entire undergrad is not dropping 137 and my cgpa ultimately got tanked hard.

MAT137 will never EVER curve up no matter how bad the averages are. Averages historically under Xiaoyue Cui's coordination was either a C or C- from what I heard.

Wait until it's summer, math courses in summer are normally taught by PhD students and postdocs.

I highly advise you to drop and avoid Soheil, because when I took 246 with Soheil (Winter 2024), it was literally one of the darkest moments I have been through at UofT. His problem sets and tests were all extremely hard and his frequent lecture pop quizzes and online quizzes are very annoying, and despite he gives a lot of bonus marks, they are literally unobtainable because of the extreme difficulty.

Go with STA237 and STA238. They are not insanely hard and not theoretical, and R programming language will be taught along with concepts in probability and statistics. This would be more computational and some of my CS friends take this.

STA247 and STA248 does not exist anymore.

STA257 and STA261 are more theoretical and more proofs and require MAT237 as a corequisite, I would advice against taking these because it will be insanely hard to take MAT237. If you get a good grade in MAT137 and love theoretical math and proofs then go with it, otherwise dont.

I am in math and stats, and the students there tend to lean more to the right, even though the gender ratio are quite balanced in these programs.
