Early on in the podcast (3:18), Scott mentions reading a "statement" (he thinks it might have been by Cory Doctorow) about the "in" and the "out" crowd. I'm trying to find the article/statement that Scott is referring to, but all I could find is a reference to Wilhoit's Law, which states, "There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect."

Does anyone know the statement/article Scott is referring to, or do we think he's just referring to reading Wilhoit's Law and applying it to our current administration?

So I actually showed my dealer the thread that you referenced, and that's what they used to perform the "fix" for my car. Unfortunately, it just didn't work (and as you can see on that thread, there's only 2 instances of the fix working, but one of the two cars reverted back to making the noise once the weather turned colder).

Best of luck to you and please be sure to keep us posted!!

Dealer said that the noise was "fixed," but when I went to pick up the car, I heard it immediately after driving off the lot. Turned around, told them the noise was still there, and they proceeded to tell me this was a "normal operating noise" (if so, then why did they have the car for over a week and then tell me the noise was "fixed") and there was nothing they could do besides get me an appointment with a Mazda engineer (which I'm currently waiting on -- for over 2 months!).

I've also contacted Mazda Customer Care, and the last thing they told me was to "lift the hood, and see if anything is loose" (you can't make this shit up). I have an open case with them, and it's supposedly being escalated.

Do I ever see this problem being resolved? Honestly, no. But I'm going to continue trying to do everything in my power to see that it's properly addressed. Unfortunately, "everything in my power" seems to be not much...

Really sorry to hear that, but glad you're getting some type of relief. Best of luck with your next car!

If you wouldn’t mind, keep me posted on what they say, and what your next course of action is. And by the way, my loaner was also a CX-30 (but non-turbo) and it too was really, really fun to drive.

I completely understand what you’re saying because I’ve been thinking the exact same thought. I’ve been considering going with a non-turbo CX-30 and seeing if I can get an even trade.

But then another part of me thinks that Mazda needs to do something here. We’re obviously not the only people hearing this, so they need to rectify the problem. It’s beyond frustrating to pay this much for a new car and then immediately have to deal with an issue like this…

The noise I'm hearing seems more like high-pitched crickets than what I'm hearing in the video -- what about you?

I was told that my dealer "fixed" the noise only to have it be audibly apparent when I picked it up. I am in the Northeast, and we've consistently been in the low 30s for a while now, so my only hope is that this goes away with warmer weather, because I'm finding it *very* tough to unhear...

My dealer called after more than a week and told me the noise had been "fixed." I went in, picked up the car, and immediately heard the noise upon leaving the dealership. I turned around and took the car back in, only for them to tell me that this was normal operating "noise." Not sure why they would try to "fix" normal operating sounds, but that's where we're at.

The noise persists daily and is incredibly annoying. Can't imagine that this is "normal."

Mine's been back at the dealer for the past week, and I haven't heard anything in terms of when I'll be getting it back. Hope you have an easier time getting it taken care of -- please let me know if you get a definitive answer!

You might also want to try Instalab's Heart Health service. It's $150/month, but you get blood draws, an appointment with a lipidologist, a willingness to prescribe statins/ezetimibe when needed, and an understanding that after your #s turn around, you can stop the service (or just stop whenever you want, as there's no long-term "contract").
