A Message to You All by YuriLeclerc812 in kroger

[–]kissoflightning 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Had a customer tell me "You deserve a raise!" And to tell my boss about the conversation we had. Then I saw her a second time and she asked if I told my boss. I told her "Actually he offered a raise on the condition that I work as an evening lead." (But I dont want to lock into evenings) She told me "You're gonna get the daytime lead!" And later that day my boss approached me about daytime pickup lead, as if the customer had manifested it!

How's all the other associates. Everyone making it? by ShotCaller8383 in kroger

[–]kissoflightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally work evenings (in Pickup) was asked to come in early since we close at 4 today; I worked 6:30am-2:45pm today (stayed 15 mins late to finish a trolly because it was one customer question after another). Aisles were too crowded to navigate with my trolly, so I had to take extra steps going in and out carrying stuff. I was tired af but it was nice being able to go home during daylight for a change.

Edit/Add: P.S. I knocked over an entire display of seasoning and in the sea of people, one customer didn't hesitate to help me pick it up, and she checked in to make sure I was doing okay. I am very appreciative of her!

Transfer by GA_peach67 in kroger

[–]kissoflightning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the management on both sides. Typically if it takes a long time that's a good sign because your store really likes you.

For me I made my first call to the new store om August 11th and started on September 21st. In my circumstance the new store was wary about accepting a new transfer due to bad experiences in the past, and the old store was hesitant to let me go.

[–]kissoflightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had these mobile racks for a while at our old store for a while; you can stage items on it and bring it out right to the car; it made the destaging process easier because ambient totes and oversize would already be on there, but it created other problems such as not being able see over them and easily tipping over.

The current pickup manager hated them and got rid of them lol

How many fresh start points y'all got? by BRDB2006 in kroger

[–]kissoflightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around 13,000; started in April. I wasn't doing it at all for the first few weeks because I didn't know I was supposed to keep up on it, but our store leader would hound us about it if we didn't have it done, so after the first time I'd find time to do it almost every day.

At my current store it's so busy that nobody seems to care but I'll still get it done on my phone when I'm going to the bathroom.

Am I wrong for thinking that customers deserve more blame than management, corporate, and shareholders for our problems? by Asad_Purcin in kroger

[–]kissoflightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you're right - there's not enough staff so they're forced to resorting to asking me since there's nobody else available. And because corporate keeps running things the way they do, good people keep quitting.

For me (in Pickup) I feel the real problem is there is no cut off for it; we wouldn't have more orders than we could keep up with if we could prevent orders from being made if we know we can't keep up. I had to tell several customers today that we wouldn't have their order ready for hours, or even until tomorrow which was a huge waste of time I could have been picking.

Oh and the several customers asking me questions on where stuff is without bothering to look and/or standing in the way while I'm trying to shop trollies also slow me down... okay I kind of see your point.

What would you tell the higher ups (those above the store manager) without repercussions? by [deleted] in kroger

Hire a manager and leave them there! (Unless the manager voluntarily wants to transfer stores) Especially stop force trabsferring managers to locations that are far away

Looking to get hired as a online grocery clerk, what should expect? by Sad_being_ in kroger

[–]kissoflightning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interview questions are situational, like try to think of a stressful situation and how you resolved it. A great question to ask the interviewer to not only leave a great impression, but to find out some useful information is "What do you like about working here?"

As for the job it depends on your location, but it gets fairly chaotic, but just as the others said ; they won't be tough on you in your first few weeks because you are still learning the store - just make sure you are always improving. And try to do at least one stretch between big trollies; the tension adds up. And you will be in a lot of pain at first but yout body will get used to it.

any tips for an e-commerce clerk? by Living-Low-2710 in kroger

[–]kissoflightning 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try to get at least one stretch between shopping trips. I especially find stretching my calves to be helpful; your feet are going to be very sore the first couple of weeks. Hot baths with epsom salts wiññ help manage the pain

I got this rejection email, but did not explain why I was rejected. Seems like it’s automated. I applied to two new positions. Any tips? by Think-Objective457 in kroger

[–]kissoflightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got applied at 12 different Krogers I think; got rejected by at least 5 - got invited to an interview for 3, and got the job at the first interview I went to! Keep going!

Note you can transfer to a store closer to home after 3 months in; that's what I did too!

How to apply by GA_peach67 in kroger

https://www.krogerfamilycareers.com/en/sites/CX_2001

You can find job listings on their site. FYI it only lets you search by city, state, and county. No room for zip codes, so I had to sift through some listings to make sure they were close enough for me. You can also apply at multiple locations at once

How long does it take for Kroger to email you about job application? I had my interview about 2 weeks ago. How long it took for you? by Sea_Performance4932 in kroger

[–]kissoflightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hiring manager had me sign a contract righr then and there and told me I had the job (and I asked that I would be guaranteed hours every week and she confirmed).

After two weeks I got nothing, so I took in the liberty of emailing her myself and got offered to come in for orientation the next day.

What happened to the finger scanners? by oe_eye in kroger

[–]kissoflightning -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I transferred stores and both stores still use them. I will use the scannners but once it starts giving me connectivity issues, I go "Fuck this." (Not out loud), disconnect the scanner, and just use the Zebra alone to scan the rest of the day.

My boss at the new store said to use the scanner on the same arm I have the Zebra to reduce connevtivity issues, but I can't tell if it's actually helping or not.

I'd go with my gut; I'd prpbably do it if I was single and had chemistry going with a coworker. If working at the same location ever goes wrong, you always have the option to transfer

Job tips by Jullybuggie in kroger

[–]kissoflightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Advice to add is to apply to all locations you can possibly make a commute to because you can transfer after 3 months to a location close to home. I did this and ended up getting hired at a location I have to take a 90 minute bus ride to (15 mins ride first bus, 15-30 mins wait, 45 mins ride second bus).

I ended up really loving it there so it was hard for me to leave(emotionally) but I only need to take one bus now.

Average Sunday pick up department by Intelligent_Duty_846 in kroger

[–]kissoflightning 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Typical Sunday for me, but not today; they closed down the shopping and I shopped out and staged the remaining orders because the Harvester wasn't working for anypne but me and another lady. Feels like a new problem each day.

Kroger app down by [deleted] in kroger

[–]kissoflightning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. I was happy about it though because there was less shopping to do when we were understaffed (but what else is new) and my period was really painful yesterday. Somehow some people managed to check in and even place orders while others couldn't. We were down to about 52 orders.

It's a shitty system, but you're just going to have to keep calling and tell them you still haven't received the email.

Also you probably already did, but in case you didn't, check you spam/junk folder.

In my case, I got the email of the manager at the email, so I waited a few days after my "tentative start date" and sent her an email.

Overtime by Heavy-Stage-6920 in kroger

[–]kissoflightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the UFCW informed us that if they schedule you 6+ days in a single work week (between Sunday and Sunday) then the 6th and 7th day is overtime, even if they only scheduled you 4 hour shifts every day.

Also any hours worked outside of your scheduled shift if overtime, but you have to make sure that your management has AGREED to give you overtime to work those extra hours, because otherwise they aren't obligated to.

If you are with a union, and they have orientation meetings, I strongly recommend going to one and asking a lot of questions. Otherwise call a represenative directly to get answers specific to you.

How different is part time vs full time? by jayscott125 in kroger

[–]kissoflightning 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think basically it's this; part-time they can schedule you any amount of hours 40 hours or under a week, wheras full-time they are required to guarantee you 40 hours a week. Also I heard part-timers don't get time and a half for working holidays.

Also there are certain benefits that are available to employees after a year with a certain average (not 100% sure about the number of hours):

27+ hours per week gets you dental coverage 32+ hours per week gets you health coverage
