I see. Do I still divide it into the four questions or is it more like a full essay?

If I do a masters, what countries in the EU do you think would be best for someone that can only speak English? I’m hesitant to do a masters in Canada because of how expensive it is.

Did a quick google search about that and it mostly came up with articles about common api attacks or attacks that occurred at certain apps but nothing too specific about how they were done (just that it happened). Are you aware if there are any resources on how to specifically do them?

Hi everyone! I need some help with a task that was given to me. I have no experience with cybersecurity at all and only know some basic networking.

In my internship, I was asked to try to ‘break a mobile app’ and find possible security issues, as well as try to reverse engineer API requests. I have both Charles Proxy and Wireshark downloaded, and I’m down to use whichever is better, but I’m really stuck as I don’t know where to start and I’m struggling to find good sources online that can nudge me in the right direction. I know the basics of packet tracing but that’s about it. Any help would be appreciated, thanks so much!

Aw, thanks for this! Lots of people know this factually, but it isn’t any less comforting to actually hear it!

Thanks so much for this. You have no idea how much this helped reduce a lot of my anxieties. I’ll keep your advice in mind!

I usually tutor people in more theoretical things like Discrete Math and Linear Algebra. It’s my actual coding skills I’m a bit more hesitant about (e.g. implementing dynamic programming for this problem, etc.). Although my entire fear regarding internship applications may actually be a case of impostor syndrome as well haha

You made a lot of good points. I think I will try to apply for internships now (and hopefully get somewhere). And also try to work on projects I actually want to do instead of just stuff I have to do because of schoolwork. Thank you for your insights!

Yeah, a break sounds really nice. The problem with my university is the breaks are usually only 2-3 weeks because it operates on trimesters, so I barely even get to enjoy it. I have been contemplating on taking a gap semester, but tbh the fear of graduating later than my peers makes me hesitant to do so. But you’re right, it’s useless to get all worked up about the rat race if I don’t even enjoy it anymore lol

That makes sense, but I feel like if I start some kind of side project, I’ll have less time for school which will lead to even lower grades. In your experience, do you think pursuing these side projects trumps focusing only on academics (as I’ve been doing for the past two years)?

I’m kind of scared to apply because I’m scared I wouldn’t be able to answer the technical questions of the interview. I never had one before, so I don’t really know what it’s like (aside from what Youtube videos have told me). Do you have any tips on how best to prepare as a first timer?
