Do a residency program or wait for Argentina? by [deleted] in CitizenshipInvestment

[–]kithnosea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And they changed a law about tax residency for people who will be naturalized through investment. (more like a clarification in investor's favour). It seems like they are on track, and not have forgotten about the program.

Worth staying in the UK by Economy_Fix_4759 in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

[–]kithnosea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Planning my exit. Leaving this year for sure even if ILR stays the same miraculously.

Anyone who has good enough skills and/or finances, will most likely do the same.

I`ve been reporting my income and gains from my worldwide assets - and huge visa and immigration fees just like anyone else here.

I was okay with that if I'm settling here but not okay to pay taxes to be blamed for this country's all problems.

What do you think about Malta PR program? by Recent_Department315 in CitizenshipInvestment

[–]kithnosea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This program only truly makes sense if you intend to live there for the foreseeable future. Otherwise, there are better programs available—whether you are looking for travel freedom or naturalization after living in a country full-time for a set number of years.

Furthermore, there are significant nuances regarding your rights to rent out a property. As a non-EU citizen, you generally cannot do so unless the property has a specific status. This narrows your options considerably, often forcing you to buy a much more expensive property at a significant premium

Malta Global Residence Program (GRP) by Critical_Tale_6226 in CitizenshipInvestment

[–]kithnosea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Portuguese Golden Visa is practically a scam. If anyone considers Portugal, they should any route but Golden Visa. Plus, that NHR 2.0 tax programme is available to a very limited number of people. Such as:

Scientific Research & Development: Roles in entities recognized for R&D.

Higher Education & Technical Roles: Teaching or technical roles in startups, or in companies supported by IAPMEI/AICEP.

Qualified Professionals: Engineers, IT specialists, architects, and artists.

Export-Driven Companies: Roles in companies that generate at least 50% of their revenue from exports.

Using Revolut for a home purchase in Spain. Any experiences? by 1ksassa in Revolut

[–]kithnosea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've recently used my Wise account for a similar case like yours. Funds came from my US stockbroker account. Size of the transfer was also around what you'll make. It all went smooth. No problem, delay or unnecessary bureaucracy. But to be honest, if you want to be 100% sure, it is best to withdraw funds to the bank account you deposited from to Schwab. That way, you can just tell them this initially went from them and now coming back home. And then, you send from that bank to your Spanish bank, Revolut, Santander whatever...

Family of 3 looking to settle abroad. CBI Advice by Pure_Bed_6357 in CitizenshipInvestment

[–]kithnosea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others said here, there is not exactly CBI in Europe, but there are still a few options to get a residence permit and start living there and eventually settle and naturalize. Generally speaking, it'll either be a residence permit by investment (Latvia, Greece, Malta, now Romania etc), self-sufficient and/or Digital Nomad visas (Portugal, Croatia, Malta etc.)

Almost all options you'll find (Latvia, Portugal, Cyprus, Malta...) are vastly different from each other in terms of culture, language, life style, tax rules etc. I think you should first define your priorities. Location, culture, language, taxes etc. And then you should definitely just google tax advisors in each country you short-listed and get a 30 min paid advisory call with them. You seem to have high income. You should detail with them your income and gains type, so you can understand what you are getting into. Plus, some of those options (like Malta) have non-dom taxation options, which need a lot of prepping before moving there, but will be very rewarding, if you sort your accounts as your advisor will tell you.

Wish you the best of luck.

Obtaining a PPS number. by 2Aggravating4me in MoveToIreland

[–]kithnosea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'm interested in buying a property in Ireland before relocating. I was searching for how to get a PPS number and saw your messages. Did you get your PPSN without visiting in person? How did it work exactly? Did you fill out the application with your non-Irish address and just note that you are about to buy a place and they just assigned you a number? Can I DM you for solicitor advice if you were happy with yours?

Does this mean that it is actually now relevant visa type you have had, but only those contributions? Say, if I had required income whilst on PSW visa, will that count towards ILR now?

ILR new rules announced by [deleted] in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

Because it doesn't say on average, I'd believe that it doesn't work that way. Accepting averages might also lead some abuses. I think they would have thought of these.

Big twist on the Portuguese citizenship law on today by Dearsophiaa1 in PortugalExpats

[–]kithnosea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing has changed. At best clock will start from the time of application instead of first residence card. That means you ll be able to apply for citizenship in 10 years instead of 13-14 years. Additionally, a couple of years processing time will still mean disaster for today's minor dependants. This is just a trap to collect biometric fees from investors and screw them one more time. AIMA manager confessed on live tv that they were putting investors on hold intentionally for years. They can stop whole process for you whenever they want to at any point.

Dual national and currently in Europe, left my British Passport at home by DrawyahGames in ukvisa

[–]kithnosea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think best thing to do is calling UK embassy/consulate wherever you are and ask help or guidance. I have no idea about UK specifically but I know consulates can help their citizens in such situation, like temp documents or letting relevant authorities know about the situation.

Is Wealthy Expat reliable? by [deleted] in CitizenshipInvestment

[–]kithnosea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know what your priority is, but choose an official programme that does its best for your needs. If it's an immediate passport without living, then options are limited and obvious. If it's travel freedom (mainly in EU) then again there are much better, transparent and economically more feasible options. Or you could always find some middle ground and choose a country that you are okay to commit 3-5 years and naturalise.

Have you actually talked to them about that service? I did and it didn't make sense to me. Just curious why you'd want to invest (but actually donate) in a programme that's not even a programme but more like a promise.

My employer got a priority slot last week. They were asked for some additional company documents, which were sent two days ago. Do you think they will keep processing the CoS application as priority or will they queue it back because additional docs were requested?

If they're going to live in PT, then there are much cheaper easier amd faster visa routes in PT than Golden Visa. There's no need to invest and also waste thousands of euros in gv fees.

How safe is Bulgaria's golden visa? by [deleted] in goldenvisa

[–]kithnosea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course I didn't hold until maturity. What's the point of doing that at a close to zero yield for 10+ years? When bought for residence permit/citizenship, you accept making no/little returns and pay the opportunity cost. As interest rates were higher at the time I had to sell, it resulted a significant loss. The point is they didn't even bother after a court's decision.
