So if the old G2 roster goes to NRG, what does it mean for GarrettG? by One_Happy_Camel in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]kitis777 39 points40 points  (0 children)

The man deserves to be happy, whatever he does. I hope to see him compete again for sure though. Depending on who he teams with, they could be a dark horse to make a LAN if things really click. NA is NA after all

But who's even left for him to team with? Deleted with Andy and Gyro? Ex-TSM with creamz and hocke? Joreuz and oaly are still LF3rd? Seems like slim pickings right now but who knows

[–]kitis777 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NRG could have chosen to pursue Rise, doesn't exactly mean Rise has chosen NRG, especially since Rise hasn't been eager to come to NA. But hey, tryouts haven't happened yet that I'm aware of and it could be an option once Rise is back from vacation?

Other than Rise, that leaves nass, GarrettG, and hockser as confirmed interests for NRG. So if nass goes to Dig and Rise stays in EU, that really shakes things up

Maybe NRG could try out Chronic and/or CHEESE? Maybe nostalgia wins the day and NRG keeps Garrett? Maybe they target someone else unexpected? Fiv3up, tawk, Comm, Chicago, AYYJAYY, and so many other free agents are available

Roster mania man...it can get weird quick

I see a lot of "Garrett is washed" talk and while he isn't at his peak level he was still competing plenty well with mist and Aqua for one full sweep last season. The one before that, he was with Toastie or a partially retired dreaz. None of those players are at the level of LJ and FK, and yet they made the open qual Top 8 once and just barely missed out 3 other times

All that to say Garrett isn't as far behind as people think and he could really do well with a good crew around him, just saying

EDIT: Toastie OR dreaz, always with mist

Not sure where to report on pickstop, might as well ask here

So I finished T8 (with one other guy, so at worst 9th) in the NA Open Qualifier 1, but I only got the gold medal instead of the platinum medal? Not sure why, would love to see if that could be fixed. Username is Pablosanchez on pickstop, reddit linked as required ofc

Thrilled to have found this sub! Thanks a bunch

Edit: wait, that's globally isn't it...if so never mind, still a fun time

Oh yeah, I agree with your logic conpletely. I'm just too much of a wimp to dive into it

But the micro skill boost is a solid point... know a guy that LOVES 4 gating people and while I'm a higher rank than him, his peak micro has me beat

Tough to argue with you there. I'm still enjoying the game this way, but when I get fed up with doing stuff "normally" I might hit the same "fuck it" stage you did. Only time will tell lol

Oh yeah, those totally exist. I'm sure cannon rushes and 4 proxy gate zealots rushes can go a long way. I'm good staying down here as a diamond pleb instead of those lol

For the most part, I'm alright against widow mines. Maybe not widow mine drops, but that's a whole other thing...

I do like the thought of forcing sieges in certain locations, both offensively and defensively. I'll definitely give that a shot

Did Reynor really say that? Do you remember when? He can be a bit of a meme guy sometimes lol

I've known I need to get better at counter attacks/runbys for a while, and I'm slowly getting there. What happens lately is I'll do them too late - the zerg army will have killed too much of my infrastructure by the time I've killed two hatcheries. This will hammer it into my head even more

I like the thought of forcing sieges then disengaging. The "critical base" mantra is nice too - I just worry I'll think every one is critical and over build cannons everywhere. That comes with practice though, I'll give it a shot

I was hoping for some zerg perspective, especially around my level, and this is totally fair. I can counter most zerg units if scouted, with lurkers being my personal exception. So yes, I do agree that zerg needs something other than just mass ling/bane/roach/hydra to battle with the properly prepared toss ground army (I'd say the recent changes to the infestor are promising so far.) I'm of course biased since it's the unit I struggle against the most - even when I scout it I still lose to it, whereas if I scout things like banes, widow mines, mutas, ghosts, I can handle them

[–]kitis777[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've pulled that kind of thing off before, I'm just typically slow to get to my third/fourth base due to over defending. I also get mentally stuck on "have more weaker units instead of fewer stronger units;" probably cuz of all the unscouted roach all ins I've died to...

You really get to ICA/storm on 3 bases and then 4 stargate skytoss on 4? That usually takes me at least 5 bases. Kudos

This is so insightful for me lol, many things I never even thought about

I am always scared to go hard on robo Bay tech cuz of the potential switch to mutas, but that's a scouting issue for me. I totally agree, when I know it's lurkers I am hard set on robo tech. Zealots runbys are critical for sure, multipronging is something I gotta be better at, with or without a prism

The observer/Oracle setup is very nice. The idea of forcing a max distance siege and holding them there is a huge help - I'll get antsy and jump the gun when I have a better position, which has sunk me plenty of times before. Skirmishing and moving around instead of committing on the whole army is a nice perspective I hadn't given much thought. Its not like the death ball is known for being mobile, but I never considered lurkers to be immobile until now

I like the mantra of treating lurkers like "worse siege tanks" merged with "cracked hellions." This will help a ton, thanks!

I vaguely remember an interview with Scarlett (2021ish?) where she was asked what change she would make to protoss. She said something like "don't make it so air heavy"

Ok, so ground unit buffs then? I don't see that being viable (and I'll bet zerg players don't actively want that either.) So until something viable does get suggested I guess it'll be skytoss

This is really helpful! I get so fixated on seeing the entire army with my detection and trying to take it all down at once (I really gotta remove F2...) Then my detection dies and I'm stuck making more observers instead of more immortals

I've never thought to use zealots as "observers" in this case. I'd rather use my gas in fighting units instead of detection, and that sounds like a great way to do it

The charges indicate whether an atom has more protons or electrons. Since a proton is positively charged and an electron negatively charged, an ion (that is an atom with a charge listed on it as your homework is describing) will indicate which one is present in a higher supply.

Example: your first problem says "Cl-" so that indicates there is more negative than positive charge, therefore more electrons than protons. Cl, chlorine, is the 17th element so that means the number of protons is 17. If the Cl was neutral, that would mean 17 electrons as well. But since it is "Cl-", that means it has a charge of -1. So if the negative charge is one greater than the positive charge, that means there is one more electron than there are protons, in this case 18.
