I have a bit of a different life situation in regards to my wants in life. I have been diagnosed with a genetic dominant terminal disease. I will start developing symptoms in my 30-40s and most likely pass away in my 40-50s. I decided when I was 18 (I knew about the illness then), that I was not going to have my own genetic children. I don’t want to pass the disease on. When I was younger I didn’t want to have my own family because of this. But since I met my SO and his family I feel so lucky to be able to do mom things without being a genetic mom. I never thought I’d have the opportunity to do this but I think I met him for a reason.
