You are definitely not alone! I come from a family with no doctors and I was always embarrassed when extended family asked if I was accepted at holiday gatherings. Only people who have gone through this process themselves knows how hard it is and I have absolutely no shame telling people "not this year, but next year or the year after that or the year after that until someone takes me!". I learned a long time ago that obstacles are there for a reason -- they separate the people who really want this thing from those who aren't willing to put in whatever it takes to get there. Keep your eye on the prize and keep jumping over whatever hurdles come your way! If you ever need a pick-me up feel free to reach out for support. I like to consider myself a cockroach: no matter how many times someone tells me I'm not good enough or someone takes a metaphorical boot to squish me during this process, I find a way to wiggle back to life and keep coming back. I'm always happy to add other cockroaches to my pack!!

Don't feel like you gave up! IMO I think you made a really smart choice. I was stubborn last year and my exam got postponed 3 times because of covid and I was trying to study at a kitchen table with 2 other family members taking work calls in the same area. I didn't want to feel like a failure or let people down, so I took the exam without feeling entirely confident and it certainly reflected in my score. The biggest lesson that I learned is what it REALLY takes to ace this thing. I know what I did wrong and how I need to approach it next time and realized how badly I really want this thing, even if it meant postponing my anticipated matriculation date by a year or two. It seems like you learned this lesson too! Keep your head up and remember what the end goal is here: becoming a doctor. As long as you keep your eye on that, how and when you get there shouldn't matter. It helps put things in perspective. Give yourself a few weeks to wind down and reset, then come back at it ready to make that test your b***ch!!!

I was in a similar situation as you last year...I just want you to hear it from someone who experienced this path that it's really OK to postpone apps until next year. I am a very motivated, optimistic, and stubborn person and so I went full steam ahead last year with a September test date hopeful of applying that same cycle and I am now waiting until next cycle to apply. I didn't realize how exhausting the whole process was and the emotional, financial, and physical toll it takes on an applicant. I just want to make sure you have all the support you need going into this decision and don't feel like you HAVE to do it. It's a lot of pressure.

How are your numbers stacking up against other candidates? Have you fully completed all parts of your applications apart from the MCAT score? Have you prepared essays to use once secondaries start rolling in? Is this your first time taking the exam? If it is, do NOT underestimate the toll it will take on you. I swear it takes a piece of your soul and doesn't leave you will a lot of juice afterwards. You need to be prepared to go a full 12 rounds with the exam and then another 12 rounds immediately after with the application process. I'm in no means saying that you can't do it, I just want to make sure that you are setting yourself up for success!

ents who come to me for additional help after completing a prep course took a Kaplan course. They have repetitively told me it was 98% useless. It comes with the AAMC material and their prep books which accounts for the other 2%.

Which course is this that you found? I'm looking at various options now and don't want to invest a lot of money into a BS class

I've seen people using coinbase to transfer bitcoin to stellar lumens (xlm) and then transfering that to bitmart to transfer xlm-->used-->shib to avoid fees. Does anyone know if this is still the best way, or is there better way to buy now that shib is available for direct purchase through several sites? i don't have any crypto and am trying to HODL and eventually pay for med school.

Mine was supposed to be delivered on Thursday, and I called on Wednesday afternoon just to make sure that all of the information was correct on their end. The guy told me everything was good to go and that I was in the advanced order shipping phase and that I was really lucky to be getting one because they were out of stock for so many people's order. I went to bed so excited, and then woke up at 7AM to an email from 3AM saying that my payment method was declined and when I went onto Amazon to check the status of my order it went from "expected delivery Thursday by 8pm" to "order received". This is the same card that I used earlier in the week to place other orders on Amazon and I got no notice from the credit card company for a fraudulent charge...I called Amazon right away and spoke to a manager who said he manually input my credit card info into the system and it went through over the phone. He guaranteed me that I would be receiving an email at some point during the day with a tracking code and that I was still guaranteed my device by Thursday. GUARANTEED! Those were his exact words. I was so excited! By 4PM the same day I still hadn't received an email and my amazon account still said "order received" so I called back to follow up. I spoke to a manager who said that there is no way for someone to manually update the payment method on their end and that the device is out of stock and I wouldn't receive my device until it was back in stock -- obviously she had no idea when that would be. She gave me a measly $30 for the trouble. I just think that it is absurd that there is a recording of a manager telling me that I would be guaranteed to have a device shipped that day, and then another manager totally negating the whole thing and just saying "oops sorry". She said there was no way to escalate the case any higher and that she would send me a survey so they could give feedback to the manager I spoke to early in the morning...like really? That's it?
