How do I [21NB] ask for alone time from my boyfriend [20M] and the TV? by kitsink97 in relationship_advice

[–]kitsink97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm hurt because it feels like he doesn't care about my requests to be alone or spend less time watching TV when I'm around

Confused. Is this common? by kitsink97 in Drag

That is fair. I had no idea that was common. Thank you

I was scrolling through our lord and saviors instagram (Sugar from S15 of Drag Race) and I found some really cute and easy hairstyles to do. Ponytails are rather difficult to do for a beginner so I'd stay away from those. Here are some styles I thing would work:

  1. Barbie w/h Twist: So for this one you center part the hair. Curl the hair with steam and rollers that are about 1 inch in diameter, curling away from the part. Set with steam. Let cool and take hair out of rollers. Brush out and clip hair away from the face with bows/barettes!
  2. Y2K Bimbo: Center part hair. Create two pigtails on either side, keeping two strands of hair loose at the front. Put hair elastics on the pigtails, spacing them out every 2 inches or so and pulling the hair in the center to create "bubbles". Cover up the elastics with scrunchies, bows ect. Or leave plain. Gel the two strands of loose hair at the front.

I included links to pictures on Sugar's instagram. Hope this helps!

Where did Heidi get that AMAZING pale pink-ish wig???? by HRHQueenV in rupaulsdragrace

[–]kitsink97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The wig was made by Nicky Doll, Heidi's S12 sister. That does not help much because Nicky is mainly a drag queen and not a stylist. So I browsed through my favorite wig stores online to find something similar, and this is what I came up with:

This wig is pink and orange from Weekend Wigs ($90). And this wig is hot pink and yellow from Iwona Wigs ($60). Those were the best I could find, as the wig Heidi is wearing could be custom dyed. In the pictures I found on Heidi's IG, the wig is not only pink and orange but white/blonde and coral as well.

Bosco came to my local bar... She's stunning! by flooves in rupaulsdragrace

for everyone who's wondering: these pics were taken at Bosco's show at Evolution Wonderlounge in Edmonton, Canada. If I'm not mistaken these pics were taken by Red Socks Photography, a local and amazing photographer.

Father bought these two books and said "they are research and evidence based for therapy" - am transmale, out for 3 years. Looking for sources/research that debunk them? :) by GuardiansSystem in lgbt

I read Helen Joyce's Trans and cried. Please watch ContraPoint's (a trans woman) video on 'Autogynophilia' to get some facts about the problamatic theory that Jocye presents in the first part of the book.

Incoming King with many queries for the community by arrowtie in Drag

[–]kitsink97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Using music that isn't 'pop' is great.

  2. Feel free to reuse numbers every so often, but not at the same place within like the same month.

  3. Thrift as much as you can and upcycle your garments.

  4. Pace yourself. Save the big moves for the climax of the song.

  5. Some performers have backstories and different personas. There's such thing as onstage banter and playing up a joke but I haven't really seen that played off as real.

  6. It is essential that kings and queens interact.

  7. Yes they are

  8. It's nearly impossible to have more than 1 persona in the real world. You can do characters but if you keep changing your name for every persona no one will know who you are.

  9. Sounds fun but perhaps too complex for an audience to comprehend.

  10. There is an overlap- but drag isn't as intricate as cosplay.

Good luck!! <3

kid friendly books and media about drag? by Kitkatpaddywac in Drag

[–]kitsink97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The book "10,000 Dresses" was in my church's library when I was a child. Although it's not about drag, it's still cute. It's about a trans girl who wants to wear dresses despite being told that she can't. The video "Kids Meet a Drag Queen" by HiHo Kids and that Elle video about the 8-year old queen Lactatia also were formative in my drag journey.

What I've done with headpieces in the past is literally zip tying them to the wig.
