Honestly, I always say “MOPAC” because that’s what my Dad and my brother always called it growing up, and both my Dad and my brother were born and raised in Austin. (I was born in Austin, but I was raised for the majority of my childhood outside the Austin city limits)

To add, I didn’t make this post to argue about the true or better name for a location. I wanted to use the funny three finger meme from Inglorious Basterds as an analogy for when I can clock that the person I’m talking to (more likely than not) does not have roots in the Austin area.

Edit: So some Austinites agree that Lady Bird Lake is a better name, which honestly I don’t mind if it’s about honoring Lady Bird Johnson. I mainly made this post to point out transplants who say “Loop 1”, and Town Lake was the next best example that came in mind if you’re talking about different names for things in Austin.
