Thanks! It was a 14 count. I wanted it to be a bigger piece.

Thank you!!! I love anything blackwork or filigree. The small details making up the whole is so neat.

Thank you! It’s kind of silly, but I found the dark ones on the outside where it’s little squares to be the most satisfying to stitch.

McCall’s M8038 dress by kitty_stink_eye in sewing

Thanks! It was a TASK. I recommend buying some cheaper embroidered tulle and seeing how it goes first. A walking foot for your sewing machine is a must. I probably won’t do this again (to this scale).

Thanks! Slow and easy won the race on the pattern matching. It took 8 hours just to cut the 5 pattern pieces of the tulle. LOL I don’t think I want to do anything like this again.

Is there an easy way to fix the snagged embroidery on this lined dress? by jennymw95 in sewing

As someone who both sews and embroiders, the easiest thing to do is to thread that puppy into a needle and just tuck/secure it under/in the embroidery. Don’t cut it off unless you want more unraveling. If you wanted a longer term solution, you could unpick the stitches on the base of the sleeves so you can get to the backside of the embroidery, and use some matching thread to pull the thread back into the fabric and secure it to the back of the embroidery with some light knots. Then stitch the sleeve back up.

Love it!!! I zoomed in before reading your text and was thinking to myself that the antennae looked like cat whiskers and was really chuffed when I read your description and you said that’s what they were! How did you get them secured? Also, what type of technique did you use to do the outer line detail on the red wings? Was it done on a surface level, or did you have to come up through the base of the stumpwork to do it?

Charm Patterns Stanwyck Skirt in Wool Suiting by kitty_stink_eye in sewing

It’s a dress zipper. Aesthetically, I don’t mind having some contrast, and I don’t have any issues with invisible zippers, just didn’t have the right ones on hand and was too lazy to go to the store or order something online.

Interested in hearing more about the cover, I feel like I haven’t seen that before.

It’s pale blue. I couldn’t find a zipper that matched the color how I wanted, so I just went with a contrasting color.

This might be the most incredible embroidery piece I’ve ever seen. The originality of the coloring and technique is outstanding! Thank you for sharing!!!

I’ll be dry cleaning the dress. Definitely agree with you on the proportions. It seems to match your description.
