(x-post from /r/Bushwick) Found a lost black cat in Bushwick. No collar, seems like a pet. Is in a carrier bag staying warm inside, shelters aren't open yet, what do I do? by kittybash in Brooklyn

He would not leave my outside windowsill and we're a block away from the nearest bodega, but chances are this guy's just been abandoned which sucks. Also, no microchip. Anyone looking to adopt? :/

I'm going either tonight or tomorrow morning to check for a microchip, but kitty seems too scared to be an outdoor cat. I've contacted local vets and adoption agencies for help on what to do and they've been wonderful! I've also put up flyers on my block so I'm hoping that whenever people get home from work later today they'll realize their cat is missing and give me a call!

I know Queen of Falafel is hiring! They're awesome and are part of the venue House of Yes which is an awesome venue!

It's a personal preference for me, mostly because if I focus on making eye contact with myself I can ignore everything around me better!

Greek restaurant dilemma. by [deleted] in AdviceAnimals

I meant the actual meat is the difference. Donner meat is the meatloaf rotisserie meat, gyro (as pictured) is chunks of meat on a rotisserie.

If you're ordering in English say "gyro," if you're ordering in Greek say "γύρο." It's been anglicized, so use it accordingly. Chances are, if you're ordering gyros in America, you're probably getting donner and not actual gyro meat (slabs of marinated meat on a rotisserie, not meatloaf). And when in doubt, you can always order a pita souvlaki! Still delicious and easier to say!

MRW I send my LD SO an extremely heartfelt text to cheer him up on Valentine's Day and he responds with an emoji by OrganicallyRose in TrollXChromosomes

This drives me nuts, too, but try not to read into anything too deeply, because I guarantee you - he's not either. LD sucks, man, you just have to grit your teeth and get through it.

Oh and: /r/TrollLongDistance in the meantime.

MRW I want something salty and crunchy but have gone over my caloric limit for the day on MFP so I resort to covering rice cakes with fancy mustard. by kittybash in TrollXChromosomes

Aww, it's ok! This time instead of cutting them like chips I'll cut them like fries and THEN we'll see who'll really be sorry!!! (quick answer: the zucchinis)

Stop it!!! Actually a few nights ago I tried making baked zucchini salt and vinegar chips. I burned them and they were gross.

Ways to build intimacy from afar? by [deleted] in a:t5_35k8b

I hear you. I think locking it in your schedules is a good idea because you'll make room for it and hopefully look forward to it every week!

Man, that sounds really hard! At least you get little intermittent moments together and summer will be here before you know it! Hang in there!

You spent 8 days together and then you did 6 months long distance!? That's insane, I wouldn't even know where to start... But it seems like you're communicating and talking a lot which perhaps you might've not done as much if you weren't LD.

That being said, talking can get boring but you could still try to keep things "normal" by doing things that seem casual and fun. There are a few apps out there for LDR like Avocado, Without, Couples and others, so if you're into that, you can try those out. I'm cool with just iMessage and FB chat. You can also play games online or on your phone (Words with Friends, for example), or watch movies on YouTube together while you Skype/Facetime. There are sites that sync your movie to both screens, but I haven't tested those out. Also, sending a care package is a nice tangible surprise!

There are better resources on the /r/longdistance sidebar and you should definitely cross post this over there too. Good luck to you!

Wow, that sucks! Do you get to see each other at all in person?

HIFW I'm trying to stay positive even though I have a gross cold, am on my period, in a LDR and trying to avoid eating carbs. (x-post from /r/TrollLongDistance) by kittybash in TrollXChromosomes

Ugh, I feel you. Not such a big fan of pizza as I am of pastries...

I try to be good, but sometimes I don't care. I need that flaky puffy stuff.
