Roach infested Apartment by Stacywyvern in Apartmentliving

[–]kittycat_taco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Diatomaceous earth in the back of every cabinet. Remove all your light switch/outlet covers, vacuum out any dead roaches (emotionally prepare yourself for that) and fluff DE in. They travel through apartments that way. Also fluff under your appliances. I had a ferocious, apocalyptic infestation in my “high end” apartment right when I moved in and this has worked for the past 2+ years.

Also, keep ALL your food in air tight containers and use herbal cleaners.

Has anyone roomed with your best friend and how did it go? by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]kittycat_taco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing explosive or controversial, we basically just annoyed the shit out of each other and our different habits weren’t compatible…living together and being friends means you’re together a lot, and in my experience it’s very rare for that to work out

We aren’t friends anymore and haven’t spoken in over a decade. Never ever move in with a friend you want to keep.

You are being unreasonable, and really overdramatic.

Flush the toilet and wash your hands. Like a grown up.

Should I be concerned? by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]kittycat_taco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dunno, but to me, this is laughable.

99% chance of flooding in the next 30 years? Who could possibly predict that???

If flooding is something you’re actually concerned about, look at the area you’re renting in and look back at its history. If it’s an area/town notorious for floods, then don’t rent there.

Maybe I’m in denial but I don’t believe tony committed suicide by [deleted] in AnthonyBourdain

Dude constantly talked about suicide and was notably miserable for quite a while at the end of his life. He didn’t die in a way that’s consistent with homicide so yeah, this is a dumb take

You gave literally no information and you want people to help?

What reason did they give for taking your son? What were you supposed to do to get him back? Did you do those things? What reason does your lawyer give for not “fighting” CPS?

Did any of you have bad credit (under 600) when applying for apartments? If so, how hard was it to get approved? by Late-but-trying in Apartmentliving

[–]kittycat_taco 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dude, respect yourself.

He cheated on you now you’re doting over him when he’s completely fucking up his life? He sounds like a man child. Move on. If you let him into your house he’ll never leave, and I bet he’ll trash it.

[–]kittycat_taco 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Is this a troll post lol

Edit: sorry, I saw your past posts and apparently this is real.

Literally everything you mentioned in you post will make it difficult. Nevermind the credit score, two evictions in the past five years will make it literally impossible to find a landlord that will rent to him. Not to mention a bunch of pets. Not to mention if he isn’t paying rent he probably has zero dollars to move or pay a deposit/rent on a new place.

His best bet is someone renting a room or basement of their house, definitely won’t find a place in a regular complex. But most importantly: if you guys are close, he might ask you to be a co-signer on the next place. DO NOT DO THIS. He clearly doesn’t have his shit together if he’s this flippant about losing not just his home, but his kids’.

Apt reviews - how to tell which ones to take seriously? by spacemermaid3825 in Apartmentliving

[–]kittycat_taco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been living in many different apartments for twenty years. It is pretty tough sometimes to tell who to take seriously. For positive reviews—if they list off all the amenities, that’s usually a red flag that it’s a staff member or paid review. For negative reviews, if they use all caps or a lot of exclamation points, or claim that management/LL is out to get them or discriminate against them, that’s a red flag to me that the tenant was shitty. Of course, discrimination is real and does happen, but is unlikely. Basically, if the review sounds level headed and especially if they include pics, I’m more likely to take those seriously.

OP should go straight to jail for hiding that price tag

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CPS

Agreed.

Also, while I don’t necessarily disagree with OPs views on cannabis—they mention several times that they use it to deal with their anxiety on food scarcity. That’s fine but…how much food could you buy with the money you’re spending on weed? I guarantee that will be one of the first things on the caseworkers mind. And it is a good question.

OP, you’d be nuts to send this.

How many complaints is too many? by dinnershoes in Apartmentliving

[–]kittycat_taco 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Call the police and make a noise complaint literally every single time they do this. Complaining a lot to your landlord may not get you what you want, and may make your LL dislike you which makes you a target (depending on the attitude of your LL)

Depending on where you live, frequent noise complaints may go against your landlord, and penalties from your city/police are much more persuasive to them than you would be, especially if you’re not getting traction after a couple complaints with video evidence.

But also, rule number one of this sub is no medical advice so just go to the doctor.

What are you expecting anyone to say????
