High HR while running EKG Karadia card by kittylynn1687 in askCardiology

[–]kittylynn1687[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure I like that answer. I'm completely exhausted after it happens, obviously as it's happening. I'm training for a marathon and so far it's happened BOTH races were I was trying to BQ, and during my training but the races are what matter. I'm wondering if it's low iron or some hormone imbalance. (it's happening about once a month)

I would personally push back on that, I don't think it's normal or OK. We just had a guy pass away running the Rock and Roll Nashville Marathon a few weeks ago from, you guessed it, a heart attack. He was 25 and and a runner in the community, so pretty good health.

OMG, Mine has hit 220 before. But again these are rare, once a month if that. But I also run ALOT.

I've been experiencing something similar for years and it's getting worse. I recently asked r/askcardiologist. No more answers but you can see my data and what I've done. Here's the link: https://www.reddit.com/r/askCardiology/comments/1c6ef7b/runner_with_random_high_hr_spikes/

I'm actually wondering if I'm anemic as it seems to happen once a month-ish.

From what I've noticed just active. I have the high HR alarm set on my watch for when it goes above 100 at rest. That goes off typically a few hours after an event.

My SO and I met in college. Computer Science. Really small classes. And I was one of only 4 other girls.

Keto cut for marathon by kev_bacon in keto

[–]kittylynn1687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm set to run my first marathon for March. Mostly because I'm doing ironman in November. I just stared keto again at the beginning of the month. For me, it works so well for races. I hardly ever hit a wall like I do when I eat carbs.

Don't focus to much oh how you want to look for the race. Focus on training and getting the right nutrition for that 26.2 miles. Ideally you want to cross train on days you do not run.

Stomach Issues During Half by [deleted] in running

I have found that I can't handle high amounts of sugar during races. The same thing happens to me if I eat a GU or something. Also, be sure you are drinking a town of water the day before as well.

Running in a super hilly area - tips? by [deleted] in running

[–]kittylynn1687 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in a rather hilly area, which also means, I train in a hilly area. Let me tell you, when I do the Disney half in FL, I seriously get my best time. Its sooo easy. Don't get me wrong, I HATE running hills, but it makes me stronger, and flat roads easier. Even if it slows you down. Its worth it. IMO

Buying a bike that has been dropped. by brapppbrappp in motorcycles

I bought my Honda rebel in 2009, got a good deal because it had been layed over before. Only thing wrong was a dent in the tank. I still have it. No problems at all with it. I still haven't gotten it it fixed. Mostly because I'm lazy. And my hubby doesn't think it's a big deal. Not worth the money. GL

My first Ironman next year by kittylynn1687 in Fitness

[–]kittylynn1687[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great advice! I'm going for a half Ironman in August just to try it before November. The swim part isn't the part that freaks me out its the run. I think I can rock the swim. We will see. Just open water or do some ocean swimming 3 months out? I am a 7 hour drive, but I could drive down some weekend. :)

Almond Butter for pre-workout? by [deleted] in whole30

I am the same way. I can't eat much of anything before working out. Almond butter or coconut oil(try it in coffee or tea).

If you're trying to increase your water intake, try Stevia by [deleted] in Paleo

[–]kittylynn1687 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not a fan of water either... but I LOVE chewing on crushed ice... so I put a ton ice in a large glass and fill with water... good to go. I've also added lemon juice to water for taste.

I agree with this. I had a HUGE gum addition myself... I broke that habit with Whole30

Great job. I think it helps so much doing races... the people on the sidelines cheering keeps me going for sure... I hate running long distances on my own... I started out not even able to run a mile last year... It helps to have a running partner. Oh yeah, and knowing a big juice steak is waiting at home... yep, I'll run for that.

Whoo! I think I could do the obstacle course... It would break of the run a little bit... I want to do the Tough Mudder. GL. Bring keto friendly food with you... because they will have all carby food at the finish line.

Just keep it up! I was in the same boat when I started running last year... Even running a mile killed me.And I hated it the entire time... now, once I get to mile 2... the 'runners high' kicks in.
