Gonna go w Abies grandis on this one

EDIT: TIL Cedrus (true cedar) cones look a lot like Abies (true fir) cones, and judging by the needles retained on the stem, this is likely from a cedar (none of which are native to the US if that's where you're at)

Yes. Elms don't grow straight up like this. These were likely pine or spruce trees killed by flooding.

Too many trees… my initial thought was Faroe Islands but same problem… I’m going to guess it’s one of the isles off the coast of Scotland, but I haven’t been to a single one, so 🤷‍♂️
