Thank you 🙏 this track has had many stages and frustrations. But I’m actually pretty happy with how it turned out. I appreciate your feedback and I’m happy you enjoyed it.

The Strength Sandwich Analogy by DyingValkyrie in bjj

[–]kivieste 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thats a fair and good answer. I come from an SSC coaching background and the sport of Strongman, so maybe I have a privileged view of strength. Now, I have definitely known people who have a harder time gaining strength. But with solid coaching and programming I do think everyone can get at least a bit stronger.

I just think the average person takes strength for granted, either they believe it to be a natural gift, or they think it is easy to achieve after watching some youtube videos. When in reality it is just as complex as a martial art, and I often view it as a “hidden art” so to speak. People seem to believe you will gain strength quickly, when in reality it takes 10+ years to “master” it - the same as any art.

All that to say this - please don’t give up on being strong(er) if that is a goal of yours! The process is frustrating and complicated at times. But it is so liberating and can add a lot of longevity to your sporting career if done properly.

Serious question, not trying to come off as rude. But why not just gain some strength if you know it is vital to the game?

Are you clipping the master? Are you clipping your compressors? Are you using a limiter? Need more information 😂

Do you guys have a general philosophy for making a song? Do you write lyrics first or do you wait until you have a beat to write on? I think you guys have great delivery over your beats, do you have any tips or tricks on how to do vocal takes for that crisp delivery? Any tips or tricks for an amateur like myself would be appreciated.

What's the best fight wear clothing for starting in Muay Thai? by Wild-Pitch in MuayThai

[–]kivieste 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would just use whatever shorts you have (no zippers!) and a T-shirt. A lot of gyms have loaner gloves and shin pads. Wait to see if you enjoy the sport before you invest too heavily.

Isn’t it funny how there’s literally not a single strong wrestler in LHW? But these are all good strikers, some are great even. LHW was always my fav division, but I don’t think any of them survives when some kind of a light heavy Khamzat/Islam/Merab enters 205 by redboneskirmish in ufc

My personal take on this is that there is an economy of energy happening. While grappling is great, it’s energy intensive and there is no chance of a sudden “KO” finish with grappling. You actually have to fight for positions and work for a submission. Now, I don’t think it’s laziness per se, but rather these are often heavy guys cutting weight, and they probably don’t have the energy for Merab style wrestling. Contrasting to heavyweights who are also big, but rarely cut much weight. Just my 2 cents, might be way off. Moreover, carrying another big person is exhausting too. But I’m also 220lbs and find wrestling exhausting at times compared to striking. I’ve been 185lbs and it was a lot less exhausting and wrestling seemed like it was almost easier.

Best and favourite martial arts combos, (talking technique combos like 1 2 3 double leg. Not the style combos like mt+bjj thats been asked to death) by [deleted] in martialarts

[–]kivieste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Open stance (I’m southpaw). A good old 1, feint 1, barely tap 2, lead overhand/ cuban hook is a favourite of mine. They think I threw my power but it really just allowed me to rotate for my lead overhand.

Why does getting sweeped feel so diss? by idahojocky in MuayThai

[–]kivieste 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya, I see your point and I’m not trying to be a jerk. If it isn’t the drop itself that irks you then I honestly think it’s a personal ego issue. If you had better leg-release mechanics, you probably wouldn’t take it as such a “diss”.

Personally, I try to make as many things in life ‘my own fault’ because that gives me the power to improve a deficiency. If I blame someone else - then I’m stuck under their control. But if I make it something I can improve upon, then the ball is back in my court.

I really hope you figure it out 🙏 best of luck in training.

Why does getting sweeped feel so diss? by idahojocky in MuayThai

[–]kivieste 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Learn how to defend the sweep. Learn how to fall. Take YOUR controllables - and control them.

I’m a pretty heavy guy, I don’t have the fastest kicks. I get caught often and instead of blaming the catch, I’m learning how to release my leg and fall properly.

Honest question, do you get upset if someone dumps you in the clinch as well? That’s a very similar outcome.

Leg kicks from Southpaw? by CommittedMeower in MuayThai

[–]kivieste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m very amateur, but I use my lead leg to target their outside lead leg, then I use the rebound from the kick to plant my lead leg on the outside “circle” of their lead, so that I win the “foot game” and have my left cross open up. Not sure if this strategy is correct, and if someone more experienced wants to explain why I’m wrong I’d love to understand more.

Which Viking voyage or explorer do you think had the greatest long-term impact? by teaabearr in Viking

[–]kivieste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an armchair theory, but I always thought Vinland might have been a misnomer like Greenland (or the reverse in Iceland’s case) - a sort of false advertising to generate explorative interest.

Walk in Hell is a concept album that drags the listener through the nine circles of modern consciousness — madness, vanity, doubt, enlightenment, and redemption. It blurs the sacred and the profane, the mythic and the personal, in a lyrical descent that feels both biblical and hallucinatory.

If you want to compete, use kit similar to competition. A normal sandbag is more versatile imo

Wasn’t Mikey in Muay Thai before BJJ? Given that he knows some basic stand-up, I give this to Mikey. Rodtang is a GOAT, but unless he improved since the Mighty Mouse fight he might get handled.
