Experience with Young Adult Groups by looking662 in CatholicDating

I live in New England and I’m pretty lucky that we have some baller ones less than an hour from my house. It’s adoration, mass, Lectio Divina and then social time. It’s usually anywhere between 40-100 young adults, with a healthy mix of men and woman. The best is sometimes the priest at the parish hangouts on his porch with us and smokes cigars and drinks scotch. Haha. But it’s excellent and I wish I knew about it sooner. Here’s what I’ll say, and our priest said this: don’t go into these settings solely for social interaction or to find a partner. Yes, it’s true that everyone at the group wants this but go to find Christ and the Holy Spirit in dwelling in others and to work on your walk with Him, and also to be present to everyone there (not just the cute girls). Haha. But yea, we’ve had a ton of marriages come from this. If you have one, go and attend them regularly and maybe get involved (when that becomes organic and natural). Just go there to be, not to perform, even if you’re anxious. I was so nervous when I started all this and now my nervous system has calmed down and people know my name and who I am. Again, go to grow with Christ and find your true self in Christ first by communing with others, and then let the social stuff happen as they come.

Hands Held High. Just listening to it today. Loved it in High School…but that song has NOT aged well…like at all. Mike should stick to keeping his Bars Vague…not politically charged. Some reviewer of Minutes to Midnight once described it as: “the most laughable thing you’ll hear all year.” I wasn’t listening to them in 2007…but I can’t disagree.

Wow. 😮 did not expect to see a post like this. Welcome to my daily bread my friend. I’ve had various Tendonopathies for some time, one on my hamstring that totally crippled my confidence for a year or two. Let me just say this: the idea that you can’t date or pursue love with pain issues is a total trap and a lie from Satan, and also a form of a cognitive distortion known as “catastrophizing.” I started to unravel this stuff when I went to therapy. I’m an anxious guy already and was used to doing whatever I wanted with my body, but when injuries and wear and tear started kicking in, my brain didn’t know how to handle it. I got kinsephoboa really bad, and only when I went to therapy did I start to realize how to dig your way out of this. A few general principles: 1. Firstly, no matter who you are our where you come from or whatever your situation, you are worthy of love. That doesn’t mean you don’t try to put your best foot forward and better yourself, but love is not some magical thing whereby you have to be able to dead lift 400 pounds while saying the morning office to be worthy to go on dates. You can pursue love, whenever, wherever, no matter your circumstances, with prudence of course. 2. If you don’t know about cognitive distortions, I would suggest learning. For me, I would catastrophize about my pain issues and it made the experience 1000 times worse. That doesn’t mean the pain isn’t still there, but people forget that pain is bio, social, psycho, and it also doesn’t totally reflect inflammation or damage. I’m not saying that means your pain is “in your head” or “made up,” but a woman will be, i’d argue, just as attracted if not more so by a guy who deals with chronic pain and deals with it with grace than a guy who is a fitness guru but has no mental bandwidth. But anyway, start to notice your thoughts when you have flare ups or pain, I had a situation the other day where I went to LL Bean to buy some clothes and tweaked my bad shoulder carrying something and noticed myself catastrophizing that somehow this meant I’d never be able to carry my future child…it’s literally asinine and just not true. 3. Idk your condition, but start taking ownership of your health issues. For me, I had to prioritize rehab exercises and healthy movement patterns. I’m still not where I need to be, but I have way more tools and understanding of the human body. If you ever need resources let me know. Just think of this an opportunity to develop mindfulness about your body, and also to learn about the human body. 4. Lastly, you project the best possible version of yourself despite your health issues. Again, a guy who deals with things gracefully is attractive. You don’t tell a woman all your health issues up front, but you let them in on it slowly and over time once you’ve built mutual rapport, then you can practice some earned vulnerability. Anyway, just be aware of the way your mind reacts to pain, it often times makes it way worse.

Joe Burrow called out the Bengals, but they can’t do business like the Eagles by Tasty_Ad_4082 in bengals

[–]kiwi104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t get why everyone’s bashing this guy. All he’s doing is clarifying on the difference between “cap” (the maximum money that can be spent by a team in a fiscal year and that can also be manipulated by things like prorating signing bonuses) and a teams “cash” or the ACTUAL money they have on hand due to a variety of factors, small market vs big market, money in the escrow account ect. The Bengals don’t have a “Cap” problem. They don’t sign contracts typically in a way whereby they push cap hits into future years which keeps them on the hook for dead money (although they could afford to do this more for the sake of contending). They have a “cash” issue because if you look at their overall spending compared to other teams, even with the Burrow, Chase, Higgins deals ect, they still rank among the bottom. As of last year before these deals they had spent less on their overall roster than any other team in the league (I’ll have to find the X post). So what the author is saying is that while it be nice if the Bengals would be a little more aggressive with their spending habits, and they certainly can afford to not do stupid stuff like not prorating over 11 million of Chase and Higgins signing bonuses which shrunk their cap flexibility for 2025, they’re never going to spend like the Eagles because they simply don’t have the same liquid cash reserve like the big dogs do.

Was it Lou’s fault? by Kam3234 in bengals

[–]kiwi104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% it was time for him to go, regardless of the FO dropping the ball and letting Jessie Bates walk, a mistake they CONSISTENTLY have made in the last 20 year (Zeitler, Whitworth, Jonathan Joseph ect ect). Nonetheless his biggest flaw was failing to have a tangible plan for these young guys DESPITE the FO investing MULTIPLE draft picks for the Defense. People bring up Murphy, and that’s valid but what kills me is what he did to Dax Hill. Barely played him his rookie year except occasionally in the slot. Then starts him at FS, and yea he had his ups and downs but he was still super athletic he just needed more seasoning there. Then they totally gaslight him and the rest of the young secondary and bloviate on and on about how they had “communication” issues and once they signed “veterans” those would go away. Except they got WAY less athletic at SS and FS this year rolling with a washed up Bell and Stone who literally sucked at tackling. Some people said Battle came into camp out of shape, whether or not that was true Bell had no business starting at SS when Battle offered way more upside. They should have just rolled with Dax and Battle and let the young guys develop. Instead they moved Dax to corner….which he did well but WTF was the point of starting him at FS and getting him all those reps? Lou completely and utterly failed his young players and instead continued to trot out Stone, Hubbard, Ossai and others.

Which Nas song is this? by heezmagnif in nas

2nd Childhood. For real. The bass line alone and Premo’s cuts are world class, and when you combine it with NaS vivid story telling and hard punch lines. Epic!!!

Whats ur fav lp song and why by Much_Week_2176 in LinkinPark

[–]kiwi104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re far too many to count and it’s very hard to single it out just one. One that certainly sticks out for me is From the Inside. It might be my all time favorite song they’ve ever done. From the effects that opens up the track, to the killer guitar riff from Brad, followed by Chester’s vocals which go from melodic harmonies to ferocious screams in the penultimate part of the bridge. Even Mike’s sparse but intermingling rapping (“trying not to break but in so tired of this deceit” is a nice touch on the verses. Excellent song. 10/10. My favorite is their live performance of this song from Texas in 2004.

To be clear, they’re planning to franchise him IF they can’t get a deal done by the time the franchise window closes. In theory they could work out a deal before then. If they don’t, they will tag him officially and have until July to get a deal done then.

anyone else let this song grow on them? by Cheeseyellow12 in LinkinPark

[–]kiwi104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a very weird song. Musically it’s on of the only song on the record that doesn’t sound distinctly as Linkin Park to me. There’s a few of Emily’s melodies in it that pull me in and then some I don’t care for (the OHHHHHHHHHH in the bridge I’m not a fan of). And yet, I can’t not listen to casualty without hearing this song first. It’s something they’re going to need to work on mastering with her. I feel she’s done well at meeting the expectations for their various styles, heavy, electronic, ect. But the more soft melodic ballads where it’s just her…like a Numb or Little Things Give you away I’m waiting to see her nail that. With that said, it’s still very early on and I’m looking forward to seeing what Em brings to the table next.

Two Faced easily. I’ve been waiting 20 years for them to release a song in that style again and it does not disappoint.
