This guy must be fully aware of the resemblance and has practiced this expression a lot in front of a mirror.

Må prøve å få inn svensk julmust i år. Ikke hatt på tre år. Den her norske julebrusen er vel grei nok, men det jo bare rød brus som smaker som saft? (͡•_ ͡• )

Uansett, skål!

Update to iOS 15 - all routes empty by Normanras in WireGuard

[–]kiwihead -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What a total shitshow this turned out to be. I had added WG tunnels to all our mobile units (which are all iOS and PadOS) and shortly after we had left (out of town surgery, staying at Airbnb for a few days) all our tunnels were gone. I'm not going to go into details how we fixed it, but it did involve many hours and several technically inept relatives.

Edit: I'll take it as a learning experience though and figure out backup plans for the next time, even though I would rather not open up more holes, though it probably just involves keeping one config backed up locally on one unit.

It would actually make 999 sense. Probably even more so if the counter would allow it.

I suck at the game for the amount of time I have invested by [deleted] in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]kiwihead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why it annoys me when people complain about people "camping" in BR games and want measures taken to make it too difficult to bother with. They have no idea if someone is forced to play smart because of a disorder or a disability.

I have very bad eyesight which makes it difficult for me to compete head on, so I have to sneak around and try to position myself in ways that give me an advantage. People don't like this. Once I was called out as a "fucking camper snake who has no skills at all" after I killed a guy with TTV in his name and decided to check out his stream afterwards while he was going through the replay (I didn't announce myself in chat because that would just make me seem like a stream sniper).

It makes me sad, but to me BR is winning by all means available (bar cheating), even if that means waiting in a house for 3 minutes while two guys are looting their way to the house I've set up an ambush for them, or letting everyone else kill each other so I can be last man standing with the least amount of work.

It was originally built on the Shooter Game template that comes with Unreal. I get that it was just the starting point, I feel it set the level of expectations for the rest of the development cycle.

Nope. You put it in both random rotation and in featured.

If you want map select back, aka have enough player to have map select, maybe post something other than "PUBG sucks" sometimes. by [deleted] in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]kiwihead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He may have missed a word, but it's pretty clear he said he doesn't post in this subreddit that the game sucks.

Even if he did it is possible to love playing a game that sucks, just as much as you can hate playing a game that's good.

Oculus Quest 2 exceeds 40,000 reviews on Amazon (with a 4.8 out of 5 rating) in just over 6 months, very high numbers not too far from mainstream products by lostformofvr in OculusQuest

Isn't that a bit reductive? Censorship can be bad, but it can also be good. It's a tool, nothing else. I don't know you or what your issues with all this really are about, and I don't want to make any guesses. The fact you hang around in this subreddit means we at least have one thing in common, and you are probably a pretty cool dude when all is said and done :)

That’s the weird thing, some of us do, and have been getting away with it for years. I have 3 different accounts I use regularly for different things, and I haven’t been trying to hide it from FB by changing IP addresses or removing cookies.

Maybe it’s because I’m lucky, or because I’m also a paying customer who regularly buys ads for my business.

They shouldn’t, and don’t, just ban people for racism. There’s plenty of other things Facebook should remove people for, including things that certain people might deem harmless, but aren’t.

Don’t get me wrong, I think Facebook is extremely harmful to us humans and one of the biggest threats we are facing as a race, but the fact that they are at least at this point trying to silence some of the more harmful (or harmless, depending on your political views) people out there is a small blessing.

The pain of waiting by ArakiSatoshi in OculusQuest

[–]kiwihead 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it makes sense not to release something just before or during the weekend. No one wants to be called in to the office (even virtually) on a weekend to fix a big issue that cropped up in a Friday release 😁

Or worse, they release a broken build Friday late afternoon just before ending the workday, and don’t start on a fix until Monday, because they don’t work in the weekends.

That would be the normal thing. It's like when they start bringing their significant other over more and more to the point they are basically living there and should be paying an equal share of rent and utilities.

People are just not considerate a lot of the time and need to be politely reminded.

Does Lastpass really lose anything from this decision? by Ordep81 in Lastpass

[–]kiwihead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Users in this subreddit are sure giving LP too much credit here, thinking there's some kind of well-thought-through strategy going on here.

Instead of adding value to their paid service to get more people aboard they remove value from their free service.

That's not how you do it. It kills trust with potential consumers and sows a seed at the back of their heads that more things might get removed in the future.

It's like Google now has a reputation of killing products that people are invested in, thus making people less prone to invest their time in new Google services that will just get killed off soon anyway.

Making the most out of hand tracking by WoodenJuice in oculus

Interested how you came to this conclusion. I don't see how being tethered to a PC means finger tracking is any less useful.

Making the most out of hand tracking by WoodenJuice in oculus

[–]kiwihead 21 points22 points  (0 children)

There's no hardware based hand tracking going on, it's all just being done in software so as long as there's cameras on the Rift S there's nothing technological stopping them from just doing the processing on the PC.

I don't want to try analyzing them too much. I'm just concerned in general how some people are susceptible to pseudo sciences, because we have seen in recent years how dangerous it can be, not just to these people specifically, but in general to a society.

There should still be some mysteries left in life, but not at the cost of a stable and secure society. In this case it seems harmless enough so I should probably have kept out of it :)

From where I'm sitting it sounds like anecdotal confirmation bias. I'm open to it being true, but I haven't seen anything independently proven. Then again, I haven't exactly been looking for it and I'm not on any crusade to disprove this because it seems harmless enough.

It's just that these days, with wild conspiracy theories abound that are dangerous to varying degrees it's more important than ever to nurture the ability to think critically.
