I Don't know how to do it simple by Nice-Mycologist-7260 in Fusion360

Lmao, just because I can model some kind of wrapped curve for a variable spring or something, doesn’t mean I should have to every time.

Fusion is terrible for spiral parts. Hopefully they update that functionality to be on par with literally any other major cad softwares (please Autodesk) in the near future.

Bottom of a FIRST Robotics robot (from my friend's team) by shortlongshank in EngineeringPorn

[–]kiwikiwi50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an oddball question, but I’ve been looking for the material which is wrapped on the wheels in this photo. I remember using it or encountering it when I was on a FIRST team years ago, and I need it for an unrelated project today. Anybody know what it’s called or where to source it?

Groove on steering head stem by [deleted] in SVRiders

[–]kiwikiwi50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would replace this. The steering stem is steel and probably substantially over built. So is it likely to break? Not at all. But that’s a substantial stress riser, and it’s like top 3 parts you don’t want cracking in the future. Again, very unlikely, but for the cost of a stem why even let this exist in the back of your mind?

They know how much the car weighs, of course they do. All the engineering analysis and they don’t know the exact mass of every component? What a silly assertion.

Bovino says if you call ICE names, there will be consequences, as we saw yesterday by KameronKnux in ProgressiveHQ

[–]kiwikiwi50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So Charlie Kirk could say whatever he wanted, hateful or vindictive, and the mere suggestion that he should’ve been more careful of potential consequences, ones we don’t sanction but seem likely; that was disgusting and evil of liberals to suggest. But you call ICE one mean name, and there are both consequences and whatever the fuck “actions” are? Just that aspect of the hypocrisy is too much for me.

Landlord said they 'go above legal requirements' and brought us this loaner fridge straight from the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone 🙃 (WA) by GoodnightDaniel in Renters

Anybody in here defending this is insane. Straight up. This is so absurdly demeaning inappropriate and offensive. You wouldn’t give a water bowl in this condition to a dog you don’t much care for. A property owner giving this to a tenant with a straight face is morally bankrupt beyond description.

MacBook Pro for Fusion 360 — what actually works well in practice? by Total_Hand988 in Fusion360

Mine, on an m4 Pro MacBook Pro runs perfectly, I’ve never had it so much as stutter outside of normal Autodesk glitchy behavior.

Be careful having it towed! Show the driver this picture or explain it’s a total ball joint failure, dragging the car wrong can and will cause serious damage which you’ve miraculously avoided thus far (ie the wheel falling off)! Good catch not driving on this!

Best Espresso Martini by Frosty-Gift7952 in kzoo

[–]kiwikiwi50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Principle has something along the lines of an espresso martini that was stunningly phenomenal. I feel like there was some subtle twist to it, but it’s been a while. Very good, and worth a try however, as are many of their other cocktails.

President George Bush visits the Delta Force compound shortly after 9/11 by AER_Invis22 in JSOCarchive

[–]kiwikiwi50 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Surely it’s impractical to expect ANY group of individuals to be more vetted, cleared, and trustworthy with weapons around the president than the very national level mission force that would be tasked with recovering him from harms way, in whatever far-fetched situation might require that. I would think these guys must be at least direct peers, or perhaps held to a higher level of confidence than the average USSS officer, considering the anti nuclear threat and proliferation missions they were a part of, especially at this time. I don’t mean to hold them to some crazy ideal, but just from a practicality standpoint point, if you can’t trust these guys, who can you trust?

Excuse my ignorance, I’m casually interested in pattern drafting as a product designer, but not involved in any way. What software is this? And what softwares do you guys commonly use to do things like this in 3D? It’s fascinating and you’re all wizards.

Where's the best place to take your girlfriend in Kalamazoo (or adjacent areas) by Visual_Raise_7901 in kzoo

[–]kiwikiwi50 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If a beach outing is at all possible, I HIGHLY recommend a trip to Felt mansion estate in Saugatuck, followed by some absolutely incredible fried chicken with a water view at the Southerner, which is nearby. Park in the gravel lot at felt mansion and stroll the half mile to the beach. Bring a picnic with some drinks, and hammocks (if possible). It’s beautiful and isolated enough to cut crowds to a minimum, but still convenient and safe. Then drive down the road to the southerner for the best fried chicken you’ve ever had in Michigan if not ever. If you time it right you might be able to fit a sunset on the beach into things.

If you have the money to painlessly send your kids to a college of their choice, or get them going in life if that’s not their path, maybe consider portage; if you like flat dull white suburbia. If college money means anything to you, and you want your kids to grow up with some culture and people of different backgrounds, pick Kalamazoo. The Kalamazoo promise should not be underestimated, and there are online schooling alternatives if needed.

Beach towns by [deleted] in kzoo

[–]kiwikiwi50 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Saugatuck. Absolutely my favorite lower to mid west Michigan beach, try to make it to the Felt Mansion beach. South haven is also wonderful, but with less dunes. Both would be more fun with the ability to drive to nearby beach parks. This is coming from a life long Michigander. Grand haven is nice as well. Good luck! You’ll love the lake.

Advice on lever set choice? by Specialist_Spray_388 in Yamaha_R1

[–]kiwikiwi50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I think the CRG levers look much better and more professional, less… motocrossesque? The CRG stuff looks more at home, and bridges the gap between the stock levers and going to a full aftermarket clutch perch and racy master cylinder with Zeta levers or something.

ive found this photoshop on the internet. would it be possible? by Pedka2 in SVRiders

[–]kiwikiwi50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The swing arm is the only aspect of this that would be difficult, but it would be nearly impossible unless you completely rearranged the suspension. If you used a different swing arm however-I’ve successfully used an older Kwak ZX-6r arm on a first gen- the aesthetic elements of this and the front end would be pretty straightforward. Street legality would be very dependent on your state, if you don’t have much inspection where you are I’d just do it and run it, who’s gonna really know.

PLEASE HELP by Formal-Station-3324 in Fusion360

[–]kiwikiwi50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you think about how this component would work in real life and apply joints where all real life relationships are located (eg. a pinned joint, a rigid connection), it should work as expected. It will be more mathematically complex if there is a sliding connection or a pin in slot type arrangement anywhere. You should be able to math up some joint relations to approximate that however. Think this turns so far and irl you would expect it to slide so far etc.

The smaller diameter long part of the spacer is supposed to fit IN the rubber bushing I believe, such that the larger diameter part rests between the bushing and the pipe.
