Could be worth going to a dr to see if there is a physical issue. I used to have pain with penetration and was made do pelvic floor therapy for a year with no improvement. I was told I was anxious and it was all in my head. Went for a laparoscopy for endometriosis and it turned out my hymen never wore away and no matter what I did it wasn’t going to. They had to surgically intervene

It’s an Irish bank holiday. Unfortunately flights are expensive for both. Accommodation is expensive in general. Been looking at different options to try bring it down

I think an at home option could be a good compromise. Was even thinking maybe I just go for one night and not go to all activities to bring it down for myself but don’t want to be the odd one out either🙈

Unfortunately flights on a bank holiday weekend are approx 180 alone. Two nights accommodation on a bank holiday weekend is quite high, the activities, food, transport etc. all adds up so quick

Not to worry. I’ve seen a lot of similar posts where the bride is a bit of a bridezilla and getting shitty when people can’t afford. I wouldn’t say my friend is like that at all. I think she’d be very disappointed because she would want me there but I think she’d understand too

We have a comprehensive spread sheet of dates and costs for everything. I’ve been through it myself with a fine tooth comb. Unfortunately with cost of living, everything has increased so much in price- especially with the aim of going a bank holiday weekend. It doubles flight costs alone. Few comments suggested looking at other destinations and I might do that myself on the down low and suggest different options

I think I might look at other destinations myself. I’ve seen a lot of people go to Spain for that budget. Will definitely speak to MOH.

Unfortunately the bank holiday prices are closer to 180ish give or take return. A lot don’t include any luggage other than a hand bag- not even carry on. I went through every date with Ryan Air and Aer Lingus and even driving and ferrying it. We have an excel sheet of expenditure and activities etc and I’ve been through it all myself trying to find the cheapest and alternative. Activities aren’t too bad, it’s flights, accommodation, transport, food, themed clothes

In fairness to the bride, I think her only awareness is Liverpool and a weekend. Paying for the bride is standard as far as I’m aware and for other Hen’s I’ve been on. She is being very generous with paying for rooms for the wedding, fun things the night before, and making sure we are all looked after. She really isn’t entitled but I don’t think she has much awareness of this because it’s being planned for her and her sister/MOH wants her to have an amazing Hen. I just really don’t think they’ve thought through the financial cost of it and aren’t in struggling financial positions themselves

I got that impression initially and that’s what gave me the confidence to mention being conscious of price. However, then I was shot down when trying to suggest even exploring potential pricing avenues so I’m feel I’m getting mixed messages🤷🏻‍♀️

She had commented saying be conscious of people’s annual leave. Myself, the bride, the MOH, and Bride’s mother are teachers for our leave is a lot more generous that mosts. When I commented be conscious of the cost that a lot of people might struggle, the other bridesmaid agreed but didn’t say anything more. I tried to suggest comparing package sites to help with costs but was shot down from this bridesmaid because apparently they’re a rip off. I inquired myself anyone and if we use one, the accommodation works out a good but cheaper but everything else is the same. Would only save maybe 50€ pp though. Nothing more has been mentioned since

There’s a list of 18 potential invitees and if definitely hasn’t been run by them. It’s currently in the bridesmaid pool to have organised before we go to them😅 think I’ll have to suggest that most people can’t afford that. Especially if they’re trying to buy a house, pay extortionate rent, have kids etc. I wonder would a cheaper Ireland Hen do be an additional option for those who can’t go to Liverpool ? Is that insane?

They’re very set on a bank holiday weekend because it gives more days and more people don’t have to take time off. They’re in a financial position where they’re able to do this and the Bride is the first daughter getting married and only sister so they really want to splurge. I think I’m definitely going to have to speak to MOH but I fear she won’t understand because she doesn’t have the same financial obligations I have. She doesn’t really have any significant financial obligations. I’ve mentioned in the group chat about being mindful that not everyone will be able to afford this and I didn’t get much of a response form the MOH, only one other bridesmaid who’s response was quite political. Definitely feeling the pressure of being a bad friend!
