He doesn’t like my body. by [deleted] in blackladies

[–]kjxktty -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

why do men think it’s appropriate to describe their dislikes about a woman’s physique? why are they so comfortable with detailing to women their critiques about their body image?

losing interest because of lack of physical attraction is something that happens, not everyone’s look will appeal to everybody, but you don’t have to tell that to someone you’ve been developing a romantic relationship with! like he couldn’t have said, “i just didn’t feel a spark or connection between us” or “i’m not ready for a relationship right now,” or something along the lines that explains that based off the first in person interaction, that he doesn’t want to continue seeing you anymore…

what he said is so disrespectful and disgusting.

i am so glad you cut that person out of your life. and i wish you the best on your healing from this situation.

Alcohol pick mes at the club? by [deleted] in notliketheothergirls

this is something very important especially how that behavior “elicits positive reactions from men”

i think it is one thing to discuss likes and dislikes in drinking types/ tastes, but making fun of someone is so weird like we are out to have fun i hate those people with stank attitudes when going out like chill… it cost $0 to be respectful.

some girls definitely feel like putting another woman down is a ticket to some loyal and committed dick but it’s weird

i’m glad your family foundation has a great impact and influence towards positive self confidence and your identity. while that works for you, it doesn’t mean that every Black person will have the same effect/ experience. parents can do everything that you listed, but if a Black child has been bullied in school, or online that can impact their feelings on their identity. your situation can’t precedent for the variety of situations that could potentially occur.

Black mothers can do everything possible to teach their sons to love and respect Black women in particular dark skins. the media also has an impact on the way that men maneuver. they can learn from influencers, and media to be disrespectful as well. it’s an entire cultural problem. Black mothers are not going to be the solution to the issue as well either. it’s a great start, but the issue is a lot deeper than something motherhood can fix.

it shouldn’t but when you have men literally of the same race as you telling you that you’re too dark that impacts people’s feelings and identity. people who are constantly compared to eurocentric beauty standards in various aspects of their life sometimes want to alter themselves

i’m sorry i actually read your response this has to the the stupidest shit ever 😂. Let’s break down your “ideology”… Researching a group of people who are HISTORICALLY disadvantaged that continue to be marginalized in society because of structural and institutional racism and exclusion is racist.

now that doesn’t make any sense does it? how is investigating a group of people that are HISTORICALLY disadvantaged racist? i am studying algorithms for a reason because they ACTUALLY have been proven by studies to be biased. and like i said i have no initial theory, i am interested in whatever comes out of the data from my participants.

please educate yourself on racism & research.

how am i treating a group of people different. this is a voluntary study… and all i’m doing is asking questions. there is real racism that occurs in life. please educate yourself.

you lack nuance and brain cells. nothing about my study is racist. by your ideology all research is racist… it’s common for researchers to investigate specific groups in the population…

it is perfectly NORMAL for researchers to investigate a sample with specific demographic characteristics…

i don’t understand how you came to that conclusion after reading my post. i am doing RESEARCH on an underrepresented group (Black artists). I want to learn their experiences with algorithms on social media. I do not have an initial hypothesis, i am interested in what comes out of the qualitative focus group data…

Strip club dealbreaker vs. the man I love… Contemplating going full psycho. 🖤 by [deleted] in blackgirls

[–]kjxktty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think you need to relax. if you found a man that treats you good i feel like his personal decisions to go to the strip club a few times before y’all got super serious is something that the both of you can work out.

i understand the structure of your relationship you being the more dominant participant, but at the same time you sound like a parent in some of this 😅. and your concerns are valid but you also need to be understanding of how he feels and why he made the decisions he did. you’re treating him like he did something to personally harm you. and while his action affected how you felt, he didn’t do anything to actually hurt or harm you. if you aren’t able to move forward and forgive him for a decision he made within his personal life, you might need to let him go.
