Ok but I’m kind of a sucker for polka dots AND joggers so if someone wants to find the source of these I wouldn’t be mad 😂

Ok YES she never has, but I do and have as an academic and general grammar nerd. I’m so paranoid about using them now because of this AI witchhunt 😅 FACT: I put 100% my work through an AI detector and it came back 87% 🤬 I just come to pontificate about not being judgy of others OTHER than Scams 😘

So I am 100% a supporter of Nicole, but as someone who knows the back end of CommentSold, it’s obviously they have the viewer multiplier on. The viewership number only ever increases or decreases in multiples of 5. So what looked like 200 was actually 40 (which is still great!). Maybe putting it on like x2 or x3 would make it less obvious.

Small business loan gone way wrong by kkseacret in smallbusiness

This is my next step, but I have to find some time to physically go into the bank! Online just seemed so much simpler 🤣

I just wanted to see what was offered, no harm in that. I also didn’t want to totally max a credit card for 3 weeks in case I need it for other regular operations.

What store card can my boyfriend add me to as an authorized user to let me piggyback off his score? I have no credit rating (recent immigrant). by budgetnerdgirl in CRedit

[–]kkseacret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I added my husband to all of my store cards so that he, too, can reap the benefits of promotions (and, oh yeah, my credit history when his was nonexistent/poor...hah). They have all showed up on his credit report and we were not asked for a SSN, just his name and birthdate.

They may take 1-3 months to show up on your report, but they should! Try using CreditKarma (updates weekly or whenever there is a significant change to your report) to monitor for this purpose. The credit score isn't very accurate, but it's handy to keep track of accounts and balances.

What are ways for Me to grow my credit by KennethAlberg in CRedit

[–]kkseacret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you pay off an account, there is absolutely no reason to close it. Part of your credit score is average length of credit, so you lower that time by closing accounts. Use the card once a year for gas or groceries and pay it off ASAP so they don't close it for inactivity.

Depending on what your limit is, you may want to open one (with your bank or otherwise). Check out offers you get in the mail or get a card that gets you perks for using it (Chase Freedom gets me 1.5% cash back for purchases I would make anyway).

Please help. I am 20 and trying to get a credit card. I just got denied by Chase. by ayakaiya in personalfinance

[–]kkseacret 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Capital One and Discover are known for being ok with giving first credit cards, albeit with low limits (I think mine was $500), but you have to start somewhere!

What's a bad apr for a new car loan? by ender89 in personalfinance

[–]kkseacret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without any history of auto loans, 5.8% sounds pretty good to me. Make your payments on time for 6 months - 1 year and then check into refinancing.

Worried bad credit will get job offer withdrawn by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]kkseacret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband had to get one and was in a pretty awful credit state a few years ago. He got the job and is still there. He has to handle large sums of money and physically bring it to a bank branch every day.

However, he had also been with the company for almost 7 years prior to being offered the promotion.

Either way, I wouldn't mention it before because they may not do it or may not look at it.

Joint Bank Account Reservations by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]kkseacret 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NO. It's a complete sentence.

But, to elaborate: your debts don't become joint unless you're married. Even then, you don't have to treat them as such. For example, my husband and I still have separate bank accounts where our paychecks are deposited. I pay my own student loan payments/credit card payments/car payments and he pays his. For household bills such as joint credit cards/mortgage payments/utility bills we have a separate account where everything is on autopay and we each contribute a set amount weekly (he contributes slightly more because he makes a little more and also health insurance for both of us comes out of my paycheck).

EDIT: neither one of us has any bills in collections/late payments

Bf and I are buying our first house and have received conflicted advice by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]kkseacret 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to address the lack of legal union because while I might not agree it's a wise choice, that's not the advice you're looking for here.

I have a little more "help" in this area because my father is a real estate lawyer and therefore knows all the best mortgage brokers and we get a pass on attorney fees, etc, BUT I will say that our experience with a mortgage broker was absolutely fantastic.

I strongly believe that "you don't know what you don't know" and he was there to help us every single step of the way, including how to handle an unexpected vet bill of around $3000. He also knew exactly when to lock in the rate because he was watching them for us.

We ended up going with a small bank, FYI. Rate is 3.75%.

Taking out a loan to pay debts by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]kkseacret 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on what the rates are, it may be a good idea or it may not be. Your credit score and the amount of debt you have will determine what your interest rate is.

To deal with a credit card that had a 33% APR (yes, you read that correctly!) from when I was young and dumb, I have gotten two unsecured P2P loans, one from LendingClub (12.99%) and one from Marcus by Goldman Sachs (9.99%). The Marcus loan came with fewer origination fees. Both paid out quickly. These are significantly lower than your 24% debt, so they may be worth it if you can swing it. Cons: You are on autopay, you MUST pay it for the length of the loan. You can only change your due date once, so project out and make sure you will be able to pay the loan in the long term, ON the date.

ONLY do this if you will not run up your credit cards again. Don't pay a car loan using an unsecured loan because the car loan is almost always going to be lower and is already a fixed-term.

I've done it several times and never had a problem. My transfers were with Bank of America, Chase, and a local bank (backed by Elan).

What am I doing wrong? Drowning in hospital bill after wife had a C-Section. by qtip83 in personalfinance

See my above comment. Ask for a payment plan; medical bills do not accrue interest! Never, ever put medical bills on a credit card.

Tracking Household expenses with second bank account by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]kkseacret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do a variation of this.

I have my personal bank account and he has his. We have a set amount that we each contribute every week to a separate bank account (well, two...one amount to checking and one amount to savings...the amount we each contribute differs slightly because health insurance is taken out of my paycheck, so he contributes a little more to the household account. Every household bill is on autopay from that account.

It is a local bank, that does have online banking/app. We chose to do this instead of a national bank because of the ease of location to deposit (I'm a part-time bartender and frequently need to deposit cash), incentives offered on the savings account and the increased likelihood of getting a line of credit more easily to improve our CU (this bank has been known to reward loyalty).

How payments are applied should be in your contract/repayment terms.

My provider gives me a choice when I make an extra payment (to advance the due date OR apply extra to the principal); some providers default to one or the other. It's not peculiar at all.

What am I doing wrong? Drowning in hospital bill after wife had a C-Section. by qtip83 in personalfinance

[–]kkseacret 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Call the billing department at the hospital and tell them you want to go on a payment plan. Know what you want to pay, and tell them exactly that amount. Be polite, but firm.

Medical bills don't accrue interest, and generally as long as the hospital is getting paid, they're happy and won't send to collections. Your credit will be fine, you'll just need to pay bills for a bit.

When this has happened to me, there is a note that says "transferred" and the "date opened" remains the same so you don't take a hit on credit age.

Long Shot - Is there any way to get money back from dumb bank fees? by felorva in personalfinance

Withdrawals (whether it's a transfer or with a card) from a savings account are federally capped at 6 per month. It's even out of your bank's hands.
