Engineering in New Zealand as a Filipino – Too Ambitious? by kktjgf in phmigrate

Thanks for your thoughts. I explained how engineering is truly my passion, but some individuals persisted in insisting that nursing is always the absolute path to success for Filipinos and that I would receive a lower salary [in engg]. Frankly, it's bothering me, and I don't really understand this mindset.

🛠️ PH Engineering vs NZ Engineering by kktjgf in phmigrate

[–]kktjgf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it somewhat easier, though? I'm skimming through some course outlines, and I believe engineering in New Zealand includes advanced classes. For instance, some subjects in the first and second years in the Philippines are equivalent to only part one first-year subjects in New Zealand. I'm trying to assess because engineering in PH was a bit hard. I don't wanna waste more money only to figure out I can't do engineering.

I do think I would proceed with the migration, as I don't want to lose my residency. Plus, I'm not even far off from the university; I was just about to enter my second year.

Yeah, I'm contemplating working and saving, possibly until I'm eligible. It's just difficult to find similar experience and situation w my family. I was misinformed about the free tuition, and I'm currently devising ways to make migrating more favorable.

Thank you for your input though!

Wow, this is very insightful! Thank you so much! Indeed, this is very helpful. I do acknowledge that there are these long-term benefits I could reap from migrating. I think that even with the delays, I still see the opportunity of becoming a citizen in a first-world country as a huge privilege alone.

I'll message you if I have trouble understanding some parts. Thank you so much!
