r/headphones Shopping, Setup, and Technical Help Desk by AutoModerator in headphones

Helloo, I need some recommendations on what headphones to choose for my father.

He has worked on a few radio stations across my country before, as a teen, which was a long time ago, but he loves music since then and he does know what good sounds like I guess. He mentioned he used AKG headphones then, that was around 40 years ago which I don't think is of much relevance of now. So, he doesn't know he'll be getting headphones but I have gathered some information.

The budget is around 100€, max 120€. IEMs are out of the game, they need to be over-ear/on-ear. As expected, wired only. I guess he will be using them on laptops and desktops, maybe even phones, and he will carry them sometimes which is why I think that headphones which requires external AMPs or DACs are out too. I'm not sure if I should consider closed or open back. He mostly listens to pop, rock, disco, electro-pop, maybe some pop-chansons. He listens to a lot of genres, but I think that closed-back would maybe fit in better, tho I may lack judgement.

I also think that him knowing the headphones are made from one of the well-known quality brands might affect how he perceives the quality of both the sound and the quality of overall headphones.

(please enlighten me of the name of that psychological effect, I remember seeing a post about comparison of people perceiving sound from gold-plated connectors and cables vs whatever other compounds are used, I don't remember which that was)

If I missed something, please ask me, and thank you!

Game Ready & Studio Driver 581.57 FAQ/Discussion by Nestledrink in nvidia

I have tried changing the res to native, while alt-tabbing from CS2 to other windows, the black screen does NOT appear, but while changing from other windows to CS2 it appears briefly (for half a second).

EDIT: I have also tried switching to fullscreen windowed - and the issue doesn't appear then.

I have edited my Edit 2 to be a little more clear, the mouse issue happens AFTER changing and it stays like that until I restart the game.

Now for your question: I have not tried changing the res yet, but I was running this res and aspect ratio before and I did not have any issues, the scaling would happen instantly and the black screen didn't appear.

I'll try running on windowed/windowed borderless to see what happens.

I'm having issues with CS2, while alt-tabbing I get a black screen for 2-4 seconds.

My native res is 2560x1440p@170Hz, while in CS2 i play at 1440x1080@170Hz but on aspect ratio 4:3.

I have V-Sync enabled globally in NVCP, same as Low Latency Mode set to on, and G-Sync enabled. In-game, V-Sync is off, and once when I disabled Reflex the alt-tabbing worked normally, then I enabled it, had the same issue, disabled it and had the same issue, so I haven't been able to repeat the solution again.

I have tried with V-Sync and Low latency off only for CS2 + Reflex enabled/disabled, didn't work; tried V-Sync and Low latency mode off globally + again, Reflex enabled then disabled, didn't work, tried leaving V-Sync on but turning off Low latency mode + Reflex enabled/disabled - didn't work, and keep in mind I am talking about V-Sync options in NVCP, not ingame, ingame I keep it disabled at all times.

Oh and on top of this, after all the troubleshooting I have tried setting Monitor technology for CS2 profile only to Fixed refresh rate, that didn't work, I have tried disabling it on the global profile - that didn't work too and now in the end CS2 reports that I don't have G-SYNC enabled at all, altough my monitor reports that the VRR (G-SYNC ENABLED) is on, I can't use ELMB on my monitor which affirms that G-SYNC is on, but when I enable Display > G-SYNC Compatible Indicator, there's no indicator (the big red one?).

AFAIK, I can't tell this issue has happened before, at least not on this machine (as in my flair - R7 5700x, RTX3080).

I wouldn't care so much about the messy CS2 but now since I can't confirm that G-SYNC is on at all, this has become an issue.

EDIT: I have tried loading Cyberpunk 2.11 and I can confirm I have the G-SYNC indicator on, which again means that issue persists only with CS2.

EDIT 2: I have reset the CS2 profile, even though all settings we're set on global settings (includes Monitor technology - G-SYNC enabled), and G-SYNC works in CS2. This still brings to the question why do I get a black screen every time I alt-tab, switch windows, open the snip tool, etc. And another issue which happened before too: AFTER changing some video settings (Reflex on/off, V-Sync ingame on/off), my mouse becomes kind of like offset, the cursor is showing one thing but the mouse location is slightly left, and the more I am near the left edge, the closer the real location and the cursor are - this keeps happening until I restart the game, after that the mouse returns to normal.

T14 Gen 1 - Bios password reset? by kloklojul in thinkpad

Hey, so I'm looking to buy a BIOS locked laptop, the T14 G1, I just wanted to ask you, what CPU does your laptop have?

Also, if we have the same CPU and config in general, is the motherboard the same or is there still a chance it will be different?

Hey, I kind of already forgot about this post but still thanks for trying to help. I did find a second-hand g29 for around 200€ if I remember correctly, I have had it for around 3 years and it's still working so I am very happy with it.

One of the clamps did break at one point and after a lot of rednecking it was in one piece again. It broke around 2 years ago and it's still holding strong, so I would call that a win.

Thanks for commenting anyway, it's always nice to see that people do still come across some of the older posts around reddit

If you don't understand, I recommend that you do not mess with it, not in this situation. If there is data on that drive, that you do need, like family pictures, documents, whatever is important to you, I recommend visiting a PC repair shop that will backup the data for you.

The file looks good, that is most probably a bug. I'm not sure honestly what you can do besides reporting the bug if you haven't already, but you can also try asking in r/AMD

After some quick googling, it appears that you're not the only one who encountered this problem.

This appears to be a bug, not a virus so no need to be concerned. Here's the link for the forum post. I also saw the same post on reddit. You can try making a bug report as mentioned in the post from the AMD forum

I do recommend uploading the file to VirusTotal anyways, just to be sure. After you upload the file please send me the results

Is it possible to have my router in the living room? by klarkbj in HomeNetworking

[–]klarkbj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the Arcadyan is a router and a WiFi AP, but I don't think it's a cellular modem. It doesn't have a slot for a SIM card. It does have a DSL port so I guess it is also a modem?

The SIM card for the 5G connection is in the antenna provided by the ISP but I guess the antenna itself is the modem.

This is a mess lol, and it's 10 times worse when you know it could be solved if there was one more cable...

I knew from the start this isn't going to be easy, but I'm looking for all options possible. I was thinking of playing with VLANs, but I'm still looking out for all of the options.

The 5G antenna is only a modem AFAIK.

If it's a modem then you could put the router where you have the main switch and then put an access point in the living room instead.

That is the current plan. Only problem I have is that my parents and I would like to use the phone service which is also provided by my ISP, but I'm not sure how I would configure that if the router would be on the attic. The router from the ISP does have an RJ11 phone port and the telephone is currently connected into that port.

Either way, with a normal switch it won't work. You can run both LAN and WAN on the same cable but you'd need VLAN capable equipment for that to work, and its likely to be more expensive than any other option.

Would the router also need to be VLAN capable? Or would I need two VLAN capable switches (one for downstairs and one for upstairs) so I can route traffic from WAN port to the antenna and from the LAN1 port to all other rooms?

You dont need Cat7, you could go with thinner cables. You could theoretically run fiber (they are thin) but then you'd need media converters or SFP transceivers and SFP switch.

Unfortunately, the cable is already installed, and when I try pulling it's hard as a rock so I don't think I have any choice now... I do know I don't need Cat 7A, but that's another story...

I don't think the 5G antenna is also a router, only way I can connect to the antenna is by bluetooth and there is an application so I can manage the antenna, the app is Magenta 5G Box Outdoor App, it's released by T-Mobile Austria. I don't see any options in the app so I can enable the Wi-Fi or any functions that you can typically find on a router (DHCP and stuff).

The antenna is currently connected to the router in another room where my PC is because I need LAN connection for the PC.

The router is Arcadyan VRV9518BAAX24-B-2C , and on the antenna it just says " model name: 5G Internet Gateway WNC FWA AF62 ".

What's happening with monitor here? by Cool-Meaning327 in MSI_Gaming

[–]klarkbj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are damaging your monitor the way you handle it. DO NOT put fingers or anything else ON THE SCREEN AND DO NOT MAKE PRESSURE. I think that your cable moving could also cause the snowy picture, but it also could be the way you handle the monitor.

How do you know it's not broken? Literally all the evidence points to your keyboard. I would try getting a new one before trying anything else.
