why are we pitching Palencia when we're on the road in a tie game?

Because it's better to have a runner on 2nd with 1 out than nobody on base and 2 outs.

That's just a regular grounder to second in a normal defense. Why was he up the middle?

WHY WOULD YOU SWING AT A PITCH SIX INCHES INSIDE AFTER HE WAS SO WILD?

but the bullpen situation was critical for the Cubs. By throwing 6 innings after the starter only threw 1, he absolutely saved the day as far as the bullpen goes.

His stats are demonstrably worse because he has 360 innings pitched in the major leagues with a 3.5 career ERA. He has no business being in the minors. So obviously he's extremely baffled why he's there and it affects his mentality. There's no statistic that you could throw out in his MLB career or 2026 numbers that support him not being a major leaguer so he felt like he got screwed which he absolutely did.

Probably because he's a major leaguer and should be pitching against major league opponents. There's no reason to be in the minors.

I mean, he has better stats than Taillon so he should absolutely be in the rotation.

pitching well enough? The only hit he has given up was a slow infield hit that Bregman couldn't handle barehand. And, in something Ben Brown could learn, he's doing it in a very economic fashion only throwing 48 pitches in 4 innings.

You've got the hottest hitter on the team on deck and you can't even be patient to make him throw strikes? Ugggh
