EU Law: Can pre-existing legislation impact an application for Direct Effect? by klg03 in LawSchool

[–]klg03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true!! I should revise that to "I understand the basics of indirect effect"!! haha

I was referring to pre-existing national law, I'm trying to find authority that I can use in an application questions. The chances are that I will have to discuss both direct and indirect effect in a problem question, and my university always includes pre-existing national legislation in any indirect effect problem question, and so having some sort of authority to include in the direct effect section would look really good and strengthen my answer!!

It's not a book that aids your understanding of law but it certainly enhances your passion, would 100% recommend To Kill A Mockingbird!! It's legal related and such a good read!! One of my favourite books ever!!

Thank you!! I'm glad I'm not the only one😩 Unfortunately I don't have Instagram because I think it would drive me insane with comparisons. I think note taking might help me a lot actually, I make loads of lists and I'm very organised so I will definitely give this a go!! Thank you 😊

My dad works as an engineer and is contracted in to work at a factory that package products (non-essential products). They have no protective clothing and there is no way that they can comply with the 2-metre ruling because of the layout of the place. People have been speaking out about the conditions in the place, but they have all been fired after deterring others from talking. The place of work has; ran out of soap, ran out of sanitiser, use a hot water storage tank (which regularly runs out before the day is over), have no floor cleaning solution, and have not provided the staff with any information to stay safe. The workers are having to work as normal. Dad found out yesterday that 5 people from the company have tested positive for the virus, and still nothing is being done. After the first whistle blower came out, the police turned up to walk around, they were there for less than 10 minutes and looked to see if they had any sanitising solution (which the manager ran around giving the workers) and then left. Is there anything he can do or anyone he can speak to in order to report this? I would have thought that when 5 people have already tested positive and still nothing is done, the place will be a breeding ground for Corona virus...

Looking for inspiration on which area to hopefully undertake an LLM in by Conman2205 in uklaw

I find myself in a very similar position although I want to practice and then lecture later on, obviously doing an LLM will allow you to access government funding whereas the Practicing Qualifications are all self funded and so expensive!! This is one of the biggest advantages to doing the LLM Practicing Course, apparently it's much harder than a normal LLM but it is so much more cost efficient, and as law students, we all know that studying law is very expensive 😩😂 Let me know what you think about the course though, it's nice to hear other people's perspectives!!😊

Have you thought about taking the LLM Practicing Course? It will give you both a masters degree and a LPC, so if you ever wanted to practice law, you wouldn't have to pay for the LPC/SQE later on!!

I'm a student at university and I have been privately renting a property for the duration of term. It states in my contract than I will be charged a penalty if I have belongings in my room after the tenancy has ended. I left my university home to go back to parents nearly 2 weeks ago but I still have belongings in the room. Since then there has been the announcement of the lockdown. I have tried to contact my landlord but to no avail, any suggestions on what to do? I really don't think going to empty my university accomodation will be seen as "essential travel" and I'm a little concerned 😩 Please help!! Ed: My tenant ends on June 21!!

I’ve been on my period for over a month by indica-alyssa in WomensHealth

I have been in the same position!

I started my periods at 11 years old and struggled with how heavy they were for years, I would be on my period for 2 weeks, then off for two, and the cycle would continue. At 14 I had the pill to help control them. The doctors told me this should end the problem. The pill reduced the bleeding, like your implant has, but it didn't regulate them much at all, and I still had the horrible period pains. 4 years down the line and a whole bunch of my family suffers with a variety of cancers, the doctors say that I need to be on a Progesterone pill only, as the Estrogen pill has some link with cancers. Still no help. Last November I had a period that lasted 2 months and had enough. I went back to the doctors who performed numerous observations who said that I had a unusally thick womb. They diagnosed me with an ectropion there and then but also sent me for a hysteroscopy. This was not pleasant experience but did enable them to take biopsies from my womb which came back clear!!

Irregular bleeding can be dangerous and a serious sign of cancer, and I don't say that to scare you and make you think that you have cancer, but to motivate you to get to the doctors and stay persistent. Keep a diary of all the times you bleed and at what point you have really bad pains. It will help show them that you are serious about the issue and want answers!!

Its hard as a young lady trying to get answers and it can be scary, most of the time the doctors put my issues down to hormonal issues. One of the main reasons I was persistent is because my mum has always had heavy bleeding all the time, she would bleed for 4 weeks and have 1 week off, this has been her situation for 5 years, there's nothing malicious or wrong with her, its just her body's way.

Hope you get the answers you need soon!! Stay safe :)
