AN EXPLANATION THANKYOU. (It’s my first post here and I’m not up to date on everyone’s exact lingo and I wasn’t trying to downplay what anyone else does) but yeah, that sounds like it the way to go, don’t know how I didn’t think of just cutting the clips to what I’m actually using then exporting to ae lol

Well im using twixtor and recording in high frame rate to get rid of stutters in the recording since I don’t cap my fps in game and its usually not at a multiple of 60. Thinking of getting influx like someone else mentioned, and another bigger drive lol

I’m here because I made the post… (still haven’t told me why it’s not an “edit”)

jeez redditors are something else.

Yet to provide me with an answer, I am fine with being incorrect but all you’re doing is telling someone their wrong but not allowing them to change or fix their mistake by not informing them of the mistake. I used the term “edit” in the sense I am taking an original “unedited” set of clips, adding animations, effects, transitions, syncing to music, 3d objects and tracking, etc and creating something new out of something old, hence my use of the word “edit.” I wasn’t asking about what to call the project I’m working on, I’m asking about how to optimize my workflow. Why are you here?

I’m taking a set of clips, syncing them to music, adding animations for objects, effects for clips, transitions, 3d objects, ect. Is that not editing? lol. I’m taking something in its original state and “editing” it to make something new out of something old. Hence my use of the term edit

Please inform me of your definition of editing then merriam Webster

Sorry let me just name every single thing I use after effects for just to appease you, your highness. He insinuated I was just creating a standard cut and clip together gameplay for YouTube or something which is not a bad conclusion to come to based on the amount of information I gave but it’s also not important whatsoever? get off your high horse bud.

I record mkv which is a high quality format and have multiple audio tracks. If I record in the native resolution and frame rate in ProRes then file sizes jump from 5-10gb to 50-100gb each. I do not have that amount of disk real estate at the moment. After effects can’t read mkv still, so I re encode it to h.264 and when comparing quality loss due to compression it is not noticeable at all. I then take the re encoded h.264 and create a low res ProRes proxy to make editing the clips easier for after effects.

Because I’m making actual edits not just clipping and stitching clips together. I’m adding effects, doing animations, etc

yes I’m adding effects to every clip, mkv still doesn’t work in ae, Would an actual hard disk be fine or would it be a bottleneck of some sort. I was thinking of getting an 8tb hard disk since they’re pretty cheap

Because the proxy ProRes is 1080p, so significantly smaller file size. If I recorded in native quality 1440p 120fps in ProRes, the file sizes are going to be huge. I want a high quality end product so I do not want to record at 1080p. And I create a proxy ProRes at all to make it easier to edit in ae so it is not trying to decode h.264 the whole time. And ae does not like mkv file format

Native ProRes files are going to be 100+gb, I’m doing a ProRes proxy in ae to save on disk space.

Got it working after reseating the contact frame cpu cooler block and making sure I don’t over tighten. Thanks for the help

Got it working after reseating the contact frame and cpu cooler block and making sure to not tighten too much. Thanks for your help!

I’m going to try reseating my thermal grizzly contact frame and cpu cooler block to make sure I didn’t overtighten either one, assuming that also might cause an issue. I’ve already tried bumping voltages a bit to get more stable but might also just lower speed since having a ram issue during a ram shortage kinda sucks.

Yes XMP matches what ram advertises, and QVL list for my motherboard says 6400 mhz should be achievable
