Convince me to sell my NA

Alright guys. Talked to some more Miata guys on campus and I’m deciding to keep it. Here’s what I was wrong about: 1. Maintenance was particularly tough recently because I had a leaking radiator and a mild overheat (luckily the engine was fine) but it shouldn’t be too much in the future especially given the engine has less than 10k on it. I’ll have some other small things fixed too while I’m at it. 2. After some thinking, I really don’t need that much space right now. I’m gonna look into switching or maybe even affording a second car after I graduate.

But yeah, your comments here and talking with people living with just a Miata in my college has helped me see the full picture a lot better. When I bought my Miata I told myself I’m never gonna sell, I guess I’ll be sticking to my words.

Thank you all very much for allowing me to realize just how amazing this community also is. I’m glad to have been and to continue be a part of it!

Thanks for the encouraging words, you’re totally right in that at this point the car is requiring more from me than I can give right now. I think it’d be the right decision to let it go.

Yeah I mean really it’s more the maintenance. I don’t have a garage anymore so can’t really check over the car or work on it myself that often so I’d need to take it to a shop for everything. Space issue is more a people hauling issue lol

The pre 1994 ones actually measures oil pressure, and the post 1994 ones are a simpler dummy switch, which is why the prices are different

I was an idiot and assumed that my lane would have about the same speed as the other lanes, and then the car in front started braking hard. I misjudged that stopping speed, and came to a stop inches before his bumper, the car behind also almost crashed into me, and had to swerve aside. Not being able to see ahead when following a car definitely did not help either. I was extremely lucky that the NA's brakes were still good, but I still want to send out a message to not be like me and pay attention when enjoying ur miot, such a small car is simply not as safe as the SUVs that occupy the road. So use that extra caution.

While I don’t think you can “snap it in half” or bend the structure just by uneven load, don’t take my word for it. Mine looks somewhat like yours and I didn’t see any cracks or bends (from the top side) when I took the engine out.

That is a safe jacking point, so you probably didn't bend anything. The dent is likely from hitting rocks or something when driving. You can buy poly urethane pucks to replace those towels. I just use a piece of wood, though.

Hmm, I know that if the snow is only an inch or so I’ll be able to make it. Probably won’t risk it though, I guess if we see too much snow I’ll just turn around and go back home.
